First Taste Of Taco Bell's New Doritos Locos Tacos

Last week, Taco Bell announced the release date of their upcoming new Doritos Locos Taco (in which the taco shell is actually a Doritos chip in taco form), and  while we can all expect a new variety of the stoner food to hit Taco Bells nationwide Aug. 22, we still don't officially know the flavor.

So far we have a classic Doritos Nacho taco, as well as a Cool Ranch taco, but the newest one promises to add "más heat this summer," which means it's going to be spicy.

The Daily Meal received a gigantic box of Doritos chips last week, only to receive several new Doritos Locos Tacos today to see if we could decipher the flavor. Top contenders for the taco flavor included Ranch-Dipped Hot Wings, Spicy Chipotle Barbecue, Enchilada Supreme, and Salsa Verde, but after a taste test (or, devouring the tacos), The Daily Meal staff agrees on one flavor: Flamas.

The conclusion was based on the color of the taco (a bright orange-red) as well as the flavor: slightly spicy, but not overpoweringly so, with a quick kick of lime. Other initial impressions included Enchilada Supreme (except the color was off) as well as the classic Spicy Nacho (although it would be too obvious, and the shell wasn't that cheesy). Then again, they may have just added color to throw us off.
