We have the inside scoop on all the best places you are most likely to spot celebrities in the wild. From restaurants to flea markets to crystal shops, we have compiled a list of the 40 places in LA where you're likely to spot celebrities.
1OAK LA
The likes of Justin Bieber, Scott Disick, and The Weeknd are often spotted at 1OAK LA, partying the night away. The night club always has a major line waiting to enter the star-studded West Coast offshoot of the New York City hot spot, but it's worth waiting for if you're going out to catch a glimpse of paparazzi favorites letting off steam.
Alcove
This Los Feliz neighborhood eatery attracts celebrities because of its health conscious menu and spacious outdoor patio. Couples like Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell have been spotted at Alcove on a lunch date, as well as singer-songwriter Nick Jonas, who was waiting in the (usually long) coffee line. Grab a book or a crossword puzzle so you can at least pretend to look busy while you scout celebs at this excellent people-watching lunch spot.
Arclight Sunset
Even celebrities go to the movies, and when they do they're typically at the Arclight. The upscale movie theatre offers gourmet food options as well as plush seats that recline to your liking with the push of a button. Amy Poehler, Aubrey Plaza, and Dakota Johnson have all been spotted at Arclight Sunset.
Alfred Coffee
There are many locations of Alfred Coffee, and they are all frequented by British heartthrob and LGBTQA activist Harry Styles. One would be hard pressed not to find a paparazzi or fan photo of the tattooed triple threat at the hot-right-now coffee spot that is as Instagram-worthy as it is delicious. Be sure to try their tasty matcha or at the very least snag a picture with their "But first, coffee" signs.
Aroma Coffee and Tea Co.
Located on the edge of the San Fernando Valley, this celeb hangout is known for attracting the famous students of Campbell Hall School such as the Olsen twins, their actress-sister Elizabeth Olsen, and Dakota Fanning.
Brentwood Country Mart
Don't be fooled by its barn-themed exterior, the Brentwood Country Mart is home to high-end shops like Christian Louboutin, luxe restaurants, and celebrities grabbing ice cream with their families at Sweet Rose Creamery. Celebrities like Jennifer Garner, Olivia Wilde, and Julia Roberts have been spotted in the Brentwood complex that boasts Gwyneth Paltrow's first permanent store, Goop Lab.
Café Habana
Owned by Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, Café Habana is a beachside restaurant with a distinctly Malibu vibe that draws in celebrity clientele and personal friends of Crawford and Gerber: Harry Styles, Pierce Brosnan, Kenny G, and music mogul David Foster.
Canter’s Delicatessen
Actor and writer BJ Novak has been candid about his love of Canter's Deli, explaining that he goes once a week to pick up a challah. He used to chronicle the weekly (minor) price adjustment that he says he couldn't help but notice on his now deleted app, the Li.st App. Longtime celebrity fans of the LA deli like Larry King and Gene Simmons speak high praises of the Kibitz Room, where the restaurant hosts live music and comedy.
Catch
If you can get a reservation at Catch, you may have to physically worm your way through several TMZ paparazzi to get in. This Melrose restaurant is currently LA's No. 1 attraction for celebrity sightings. Models like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, actor Leonardo DiCaprio, and "it" couple Chrissy Teigen and John Legend all frequent the hard-to-get-into-unless-you-know-someone LA outpost of the New York restaurant, which serves up globally influenced seafood fare.
Chateau Marmont
LA's Chateau Marmont has an extensive and complicated history with celebrities. James Dean once jumped through a window at the hotel, John Belushi died of a drug overdose in Bungalow 3, Lindsey Lohan briefly took up residence in the hotel and racked up at $46,000 bill, and Britney Spears was banned for "smearing food all over her face." Now, the hotel's rich history still lures celebrities like Lana Del Rey, Julianna Hough, and Lady Gaga in to dine on its restaurant patio or stay in one of their famous bungalows.
Craig’s
Not only does Craig's serve delicious food, it also hosts some of Hollywood's elite. Located down the street from hot-spot Catch but easier to make a reservation for, the American-style restaurant (which serves pigs in a blanket as an appetizer) sees such celebrity clientele as Kendall Jenner, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Rachel Zoe, or Mariah Carey on any given night.
Delilah
Kendall Jenner celebrated her 21st birthday at this super shi-shi restaurant that has banned indoor photography due to the nature of its clientele. Easier to get in to than Soho House but just as exclusive, possible vegan and rapper Drake has also hosted his birthday at Delilah and both Hadid sisters have been spotted there.
Disneyland
Yes, even celebrities will make the hour and a half to two-hour trek to Anaheim to visit the happiest place on Earth. Disney guests have spotted John Stamos, Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Alba, and more eating mickey pretzels and riding the Matterhorn. Plus, Disneyland is the most vegan friendly amusement park, so it's perfect for celebs and their sorta weird diet habits.
Erewhon Natural Food Market
Think of Erewhon as an even more health-focused and up-scale Whole Foods. The grocery store has not only been featured on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, it also attracts tons of health-obsessed celebrity shoppers, including Eva Longoria, Diana Agron, and of course, every single Kardashian-Jenner (even Corey Gamble).
Gjelina
Abbot Kinney eatery Gjelina has been known to seat a celebrity or two. Recently, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were spotted munching on pizza, and previously paparazzi have snapped Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman, and Jessica Simpson coming and going through its large doors.
Il Pastaio
Beverly Hills' Il Pastaio seems to be the place that Bella Hadid likes to meet with her father and brother for lunch. There have been countless paparazzi moments of the family together at the restaurant. Other notable sightings include Hailey Baldwin and Kourtney Kardashian.
Joan’s on Third
Whether it's the Studio City or the 3rd Street location, diners are destined to see a celebrity at the New York-style deli and restaurant. The paparazzi have been known to snap the likes of Ian Somerhalder, Sarah Hyland, Miranda Cosgrove, Johnny Knoxville and cast members from Broad City (Bevers, anyone?) dining outside. Pro tip: Many celebrities go to Joan's on Third after spending the morning shopping at Melrose Trading Post.
La Scala
Emma Kenney (Debbie from the series Shameless) Instagrams her outings at La Scala almost weekly. This celebrity-favorite hangout spot is good for an Instagram and rubbing elbows with A-list clientele.
Larchmont Village
Celebrities looking for a neighborhood-y vibe tend to flock to Larchmont Village. The quaint and tiny LA neighborhood is dotted with local restaurants, boutiques, farmers markets, and pet adoptions. Cheyenne Jackson and his family have been spotted at Le Pain Quotidien there, as have Eric Dane, Rebecca Gayheart, and Ian Somerhalder.
Largo at The Coronet
Largo at The Coronet is one of LA's hot spots for comedy and for celebrity sightings. You never know who is going to be in the audience or brought out as a guest. Frequent celebrity appearances are made by Nick Kroll, Larry David, Jeff Garlin, and Pete Holmes. This is a must-see for comedy fans.
Los Angeles International Airport
When they're not flying out of private airports, celebrities are just like us and use the TSA security lane. Since many celebrities travel for shoots, tours, and pleasure, it's a safe bet that you will spot someone at LAX, even if they're not A-list. It's also super easy to spot them coming and going — just follow the crowd of on-lookers turning their heads.
Malibu Country Mart
Strolling around Malibu Country Mart, you can find celebrities making pit stops at Starbucks, munching on sandwiches outside Malibu Kitchen and even shopping at Sephora. The shop- and food-filled compound attracts celebs like Jerry Seinfeld and his vintage cars, Kardashians stopping for coffee, and Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. Plus you're just down the street from Café Habana and Nobu!
Moonlight Rollerway
You may be thinking, a roller rink, really? But Moonlight Rollerway has become a hub for celebrities looking for something a little off the beaten path to do. Westworld star Jimmi Simpson has been spotted skating at the rink, as have celebrity couple Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling. It only takes a brief scroll through their Instagram tagged place page to see that roller skating has become cool again (at least in LA).
Osteria Mozza
This Hollywood Italian restaurant attracts celebrity diners from Rihanna to Thomas Middleditch. It's owned by the chef-lebrity Nancy Silverton, which is already a reason enough to venture in–but if that's not enough, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have even been spotted at this haunt. Plus, if you just want Mozza's pizza, there is Pizzeria Mozza next door with all the pizza you can eat.
Nobu
Nobu has been famous for its celebrity clientele for a long time. The Japanese restaurant has several locations worldwide, but its new Malibu location on PCH has become particularly desirable to celebrities due to its outdoor seating with sweeping views of the ocean. Nobu devotees like Kenny G, Kris Jenner and her retinue, the Schwarzeneggers, and Robert De Niro (who owns a piece of the restaurant) are often spotted by guests.
Runyon Canyon
Nothing says LA quite like a rigorous but glamorous hiking experience. Located right above the Hollywood Walk of Fame, this mountainous hiking trail gives a stunning view of the whole city and provides ample opportunity to run alongside a sweaty and shirtless Pete Wentz and Josh Duhamel. Many celebs have been known to bring their dogs along as well. Always remember to ask before you pet!
Skylight Books
One adorable LA bookstore has become a haven for celebrity bookworms. Indie stars like Parker Posey and Zoe Kazan have been known to browse the shelves at this bookstore co-owned by Jeffrey Tambor. Plus they host lots of book events that bring in celebrity authors and fans!
Soho Malibu Beach House
Soho House is already known for its celebrity memberships, long waiting list, and strict no-photo policy, but the new and utra-exclusive Malibu location proves to be even more of a challenge to get in to. The likes of Diana Ross, Tracy Ellis Ross, Kourtney Kardashian, and Paula Patton have been known to graze the Sunday brunch buffet and lounge in the sun and take in the scenic beach. If you can get in, it's definitely worth going.
Soul Cycle
You may want to see if you can score a picture with any of these celebrities before your Soul Cycle spin class begins, because you're bound to get sweaty. That's exactly what attracts high-end celebrities like Ellie Kemper, Carey Mulligan, and Khloe Kardashian to this endorphin- and adrenaline-boosting spin class.
Spellbound Sky
Spellbound Sky in the Silverlake neighborhood is a celebrity destination for crystals, stones, ritual candles, essential oil potions, and healing-stone studded jewelry to celebrity clientele like Cara Delevigne, Brook Candy, Alexa Chung, and Lena Dunham. You can often find them consulting shop owners Mark Phillips and Martin Anguiano for metaphysical guidance.
Studio City Farmer’s Market
The Studio City Farmer's Market is a great weekend spot to grab a snack and some groceries — and to see celebrities. While perusing fresh fruit, guests can often find actress Ariel Winter, author and screenwriter Kelly Oxford, and actor Chris Noth — Mr. Big himself — wandering around.
Sweet Butter
Little do outsiders know, but the San Fernando Valley is home to a bunch of good spots to see celebs — breakfast, brunch, and lunch place Sweet Butter being one of them. The Sherman Oaks hang has seen the likes of Lena Dunham, Haim, and Real Housewives star Lisa Rinna and her husband Harry Hamlin.
The Calabasas Commons
As you may well know, Calabasas is Kardashian Kountry. Kris, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Rob, Kendall, Kylie, and Kanye make frequent appearances at the Calabasas Commons to grab coffee, order smoothies from Sunlife, or catch a movie. Britney Spears, Jayden Smith, and Justin Bieber (Spears and Bieber have homes in Calabasas) have been spotted on several different occasions by paparazzi as well.
The Grove
The Grove is one of LA's most famous outdoor shopping malls and also a major favorite of former One Direction member Niall Horan, fashion designer Nicole Richie, actress Bella Thorne, and Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer. When they're not frequenting the shops, they're usually spotted dining at the Farmer's Market, Umami Burger, or Sprinkles Cupcakes.
The Melrose Trading Post
Although it may seem a little unusual to spot celebrities at a weekly flea market held in a high school parking lot, such is the case for the Melrose Trading Post. Paris Jackson, Kendall Jenner, the entire cast of Shameless, and YouTube sensations like Tyler Oakley and BuzzFeed video stars all frequent this busy weekend spot to shop vintage clothing, jewelry, and home furnishings.
The Starbucks on Montana in Santa Monica
This specific Starbucks location has gotten more attention from paparazzi than most Starbucks locations, namely with photos of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner.
The Tower Bar
The Tower Bar at the Sunset Tower Hotel has recently become a hot spot to see celebrities on a night out, especially after rumors of a $100 million sale. Celebrity sightings run the gamut from Andy Cohen to Viggo Mortensen. The bar used to be a favorite of Katy Perry and ex-boyfriend Orlando Bloom.
Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre
It's not unusual to see your favorite comedians onstage at both UCB Sunset and UCB Franklin. The New York-based comedy space has big name founders including Amy Poheler and Matt Besser. Nick Kroll frequently appears here, as do Moshe Kasher, Natasha Leggero, Jason Mantzoukas, Zach Woods, and others. If you're a comedy or improv nerd, you're geeking out about this right now. If you're not, it's a great space to bring a date who is because they'll be super impressed.
Urth Café
Urth Café is an LA institution that is observed by non-famous and famous Angelenos alike. It is not uncommon to stand patiently in the (long) line behind Russell Brand, Kat Von D, or Emma Roberts. The delicious boba teas, ornate sandwiches, and the potential celeb encounter make the 30-minute-plus wait time worth it.
Whole Foods in Tarzana
This San Fernando Valley Whole Foods is the newest, most updated, and best stocked Whole Foods in the valley. It's no wonder that celebrities who live on this side of the hill, like Matt LeBlanc, Kaley Cuoco, and the Kardashian Klique stock up on groceries at this location. You're just as likely to find spirulina smoothies at this location as you are to see a TV celebrity in a baseball cap running in to grab their groceries. No wonder it's one of America's best grocery stores of 2017.
