You May Be Able To Charge Your iPhone Wirelessly At Starbucks
The wireless charging circles at Starbucks could soon be compatible with iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus.
With the roll out of these new iPhones, Slash Gear reports that the new iPhones will have wireless charging capabilities, making them the perfect companion to Powermat, the company behind those wireless charging ports that you see while you drink your morning PSL.
The only catch will be that iPhone uses a "qi" standard whereas Starbucks chargers support the Power Matter Alliance (PMA) standard. That means in order to be compatible with iPhone, Powermat's cloud server will require over-the-air software update, according to CNET.
At this time no timeline has been given for the update but according to the media website, it is expected on a locational basis.
