Woman Bites Off Husband's Ear During Dispute Over Beer
A woman in St. Cloud, Minnesota, has been arrested after she bit off a piece of her husband's ear during an argument over the beer he was drinking. The woman, 37-year-old Jamie Elrod, faces a first-degree assault charge, according to a criminal complaint.
Police who arrived at the couple's home in response to a report of domestic assault found a piece of the victim's ear on the floor, as well as his blood. The victim told police that his wife had been "yelling at him over beer" and when he went into their bedroom, "that's when the defendant went off on him." Elrod herself had also been drinking a "hairy buffalo drink, and she gets out of hand when she has those," according to a statement of probable cause.
When authorities initially asked Elrod, who appeared intoxicated, what happened to her husband's ear, she stated that "she had no idea," according to the statement. While in jail, however, Elrod made a call to her mother in which she admitted to having bit off a piece of her husband's ear during their dispute.
Elrod is currently being held at the Stearns County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
