For those waiting for some indication the seasons will be changing soon, don't hold your breath. Instead, celebrate the bounty of the long summer at local haunts in Virginia that offer beer, wine, spirits, and tasty foods; head to Capitol Hill for wine and a book celebrating the life and times of Bobby Kennedy; or grab the kids and head to a Chevy Chase eatery for a brunch made just for the little ones. 2941 Restaurant to Host Taste of Virginia Wine Dinner
Virginia has become a nationally recognized food and drink destination in the last few years, and to celebrate its talented culinary talent and bounty, 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church, Virginia is Hosting its first ever Taste of Virginia Dinner on Sunday, September 11, with seating available from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $60 per person and the three-course prix-fixe menu will include products and beverages from over a dozen celebrated farmers, distilleries, breweries, artisans, wineries, and more. Executive chef Bertrand Chemel and pastry chef Caitlin Dysart will include food products and drink pairings from Catoctin Creek Distillery, Rappahannock Oyster Company, Port City Brewing Company, wines from RdV Vineyards, F.J. Medina & Sons Farm, TrueFarms, Caromont Farm, Parker Farms, Rock Hill Honey Bee Farms, New Frontier Bison, and EcoFriendly Foods, just to highlight a few.
Capitol Hill Hotel to Host Evening Wine Reception and Book Reading
It's been a while since anyone in D.C. hosted an event to celebrate the work and life of an important liberal politician. On , Wednesday, September 14, Capitol Hill Hotel will host New York Times bestselling author Larry Tye will be reading, and discussing passages from his book, Bobby Kennedy: The Making of a Liberal Icon. Tye, a former Boston Globe Journalist turned author, will be introduced by Donald A. Ritchie, Historian Emeritus of the United States Senate, and during the discussion Tye will share his thoughts on the upcoming presidential election, the lessons offered by the 1968 campaign, and other ways in which Bobby's message of optimism continues to resonate. During the event, the hotel will host its regular wine reception featuring hand-selected wines, beginning promptly at 5 p.m. in the Capitol Hill Hotel Library. Join them for an evening of wine, words, and wisdom.
Jake's American Grille Hosting Kid's Brunch Bash
The folks at Jake's American Grille in Chevy Chase, D.C. are throwing a big party to kick off their fall season Kids' Brunch with a big bash on Saturday, September 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For the kids there are fun things to eat and drink and the event includes arts and crafts, face painting, magic, balloon animals, an assortment of birthday cakes, and guided learning experiences hosted by a respected educator. For parents, there will be mimosas, crab Benedict, slow braised beef short rib hah, Grand Marnier French toast, and other treats.
