We Made A PB&J With Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, And It Was Amazing
The simple peanut butter and jelly sandwich is undoubtedly a perfect food, and while we know that they say you shouldn't mess with perfection, we decided to go ahead and do it anyway. We replaced the peanut butter with Reese's peanut butter cups, and the results were spectacular.
In order to keep the playing field as even as possible, we kept the ingredients simple, with cheap white bread and Smucker's strawberry preserves to go along with the Reese's. Two peanut butter cups, cut into quarters and arranged equally on the slice, offered the ideal amount of coverage.
The end result, as you might imagine, was pretty much perfect. The soft bread, the interplay between strawberry, peanut butter, and chocolate... The sandwich was an absolute winner. It was super-sweet, to be sure, but we made sure not to use too much of the preserves, so it didn't go completely overboard.
Some colleagues sampled the sandwich and had similar opinions. "It's like a candy bar between two slices of bread, which is pretty awesome," said one. "There's absolutely nothing that's wrong with that," said another. "It's like childhood in a bite," another said, poignantly.
So, in short, you should definitely swap out peanut butter with Reese's peanut butter cups the next time you're hankering for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
