Waitress Stabs Man To Death Inside Chinese Restaurant
A 41-year-old man who was visiting his sister at her restaurant in Brooklyn was stabbed to death after he got into a verbal fight with a waitress, according to the NYPD.
Police believe that the man, who was visiting his sister at Lucky Zhang Family restaurant on 8th Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, may have been romantically involved with the waitress at one point. The restaurant is one of many in Brooklyn's Chinatown neighborhood that serves inexpensive Chinese lunch staples.
The 35-year-old waitress stabbed the victim, 41-year-old Jian-Yang Zhang, in the neck and back, and fled the scene. Zhang was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center not far from the restaurant, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect, who told police she was defending herself against abuse, has been taken into police custody. Police are expected to review surveillance data to substantiate her self-defense claims.
