Tennessee Boy Uses Allowance To Treat Local Law Enforcement To Pizza Party
A young boy from Kingston, Tenn. is being praised for his altruistic actions over Labor Day Weekend.
Sean Douglas saved his allowance for weeks to throw deputies at the Roane County Sheriff's office an impromptu pizza party on Saturday.
Chief Tim Phillips told FoxNews.com that Douglas arrived at the station with a parent during the afternoon shift change around 3 p.m. Sept. 3.
"Most kids his age, they're saving their allowance to buy video games or something to play with. But for him to save up to buy snacks and pizza for us, that was just really awesome," Phillips says.
Douglas bought five Little Caesars pizzas, bags of their signature crazy bread, two liters of soda and assorted cookies. The food was enough to feed about 20 hungry staff members.
"It was related to me that he [Douglas] wanted to let the officers know how much he appreciates everything they do for the community," says the chief who was not on duty when Douglas stopped by.
The officers posted a thank you to the boy on Facebook and the post has since been flooded with well wishes and praise for the young boy's actions.
Phillips says the Roane County community has been especially supportive in recent weeks while tensions mount over issues surrounding reported police brutality. After 22 years on the force, he says the outpouring of support has been "really impressive" and his department has received various snacks over the past few weeks.
But the chief was especially impressed by the station's most youthful visitor.
Says Philips, "Folks have been coming by weekly but this is the first time we had a kid come through and it sure means a lot."
