Southern Wing Showdown Descends On Atlanta This Weekend
Back for the second time, Atlanta's Southern Wing Showdown (formerly Atlanta Wing Fest), featuring Springer Mountain Farms chicken, will serve up wings, live music, spirits, and lawn games at The Foundry at Puritan Mill this Sunday, August 20 from 1 to 5 p.m. Twenty-five chefs from across the South will cook up their takes on the chicken wing. From spicy heat to sweet and savory, the wing selection will offer unique flavor and zest.
Get ready to lick your fingers and enjoy some indulgent sides from each tasting station, play cornhole, and then sip a cocktail. After trying several wings, vote for your favorite wing chef. Last year's winner was Zach Schultz of Savannah's Cotton & Rye, who will be back to defend his "Best of Fest" title.
A wing-eating contest will provide additional amusement for attendees.
Participating restaurants from the Atlanta area include Ford Fry classic JCT Kitchen, Indian staple Bhojanic, Krog Street Market newcomer Richards' Southern Fried, Ponce City Market fixture The Mercury, and Inman Park's Hampton + Hudson. The Southern Wing Showdown is produced by Taste of Atlanta, Atlanta's annual food and beverage festival, which will take place October 20 to 22 in the Historic Old Fourth Ward Park.
