Philadelphia's Prominent Vetri Family Restaurant Group Sold To Urban Outfitters
The Vetri Family, a popular restaurant group based in Philadelphia, has been acquired by Urban Outfitters, a lifestyle and retail brand popular with millennials, according to a joint press release from the two companies.
Vetri Family's restaurants, from chef and CEO Marc Vetri, and chief operating officer Jeff Benjamin, include Vetri, Lo Spiedo, Amis, Alla Spina, Osteria, and the casual dining concept Pizzeria Vetri. Under the acquisition agreement, daily operations at each restaurant will remain under the Vetri family's control, while its flagship restaurant Vetri will remain under the sole ownership of the partners.
Vetri and Benjamin will also manage Urban Outfitters' food and beverage operations, overseeing Urban's locations at the Navy Yard and the Herald Square café, as well as the expansion of Pizzeria Vetri.
Calling the deal a "perfect match," Marc Vetri said that the acquisition would allow the restaurant group to "grow its business with the support of a great partner with a proven infrastructure. And we will now be able to focus on what we do best — run restaurants that make people happy."
