The Joule: A Jewel In The Heart Of Dallas

The Joule, a hip, boutique, luxury hotel is not just a place to lay your head. With a hyper-attentive staff, an extensive art collection throughout, marble floors, and gorgeous yet comfortable furniture, this place is an experience. The museum-like lobby is a super chic place to hang out, have a cocktail, read the morning paper, or catch up on some work amid larger-than-life sculptures and wall installations. The staff is quite possibly the best in the business and creative inspiration is imminent.

The Taschen Library right off the lobby literally drew me in. I love to read and flip through books but have never seen quite a combination of funky, unique, and eccentric coffee table books in one place. Each book is personally overseen by founder and publisher, Benedikt Taschen. Do not walk past without stopping in because you must grab a chair and enter the mind of this publisher.

The rooms are stylish, and it has one of the coolest rooftop pools that I have ever seen. It literally hangs over the sidewalk below.

Location, location, location. The Joule is in the thick of it. It is nestled in the heart of Dallas' central business district adjacent to the flagship Neiman Marcus store, across the street from one of Dallas' premier boutique stores 4510 and a hop, skip, and a jump to the Dallas Arts District. There are dozens of happening bars and restaurants within walking distance, but the in-hotel spots will keep you close. There are two restaurants, a coffee shop, a lobby bar, and an uber hip cocktail lounge in the basement, and each serves delicious food.

CBD Provisions

CBD Provisions is a modern Texas brasserie with a commitment to local and sustainable food sourcing. The menu is simple and contemporary with options like Gulf Shrimp and Crab Cocktail with Bloody Maria, Avocado and Horseradish, Pimento Cheese Toast, and Green Chili Pork Enchiladas. The beer, wine, and cocktail options are great.

Americano

Americano is a casual Italian restaurant with décor inspired by 1960s Italian cinema. Executive chef Matt Ford prepares Neapolitan-style pizzas, savory house-made pastas, and creative takes on Italian-American classics.

Weekend

Weekend is the coffee shop located in the lobby that serves delicious coffee and house-made baked goods. It is known around town for its flaky biscuits.

The Lobby Bar

The Lobby Bar is in the middle of the action and a great spot for crafty cocktails and a happening happy hour.

Midnight Rambler

Midnight Rambler is an underground craft cocktail lounge inspired by the glam of old-school rock ′n′ roll. They serve an assortment of tasty light bar fare provided by CBD Provisions upstairs.
