Japan's Kit Kat Obsession Continues With Cough Drop-Flavored Bars
Chocolate fiends, stock up for cold season: Cough drop-flavored Kit Kats have now gone on sale in Japan. The country is known for its plethora of unique Kit Kat flavors, such as matcha green tea and pancake, but Kit Kat Nodo Ame Aji — or "Cough Drop Flavor" — Kit Kats may be the most original taste to date.
According to Rocket News, each Kit Kat has 2.1 percent throat lozenge powder mixed into the white chocolate. Nestlé calls the resulting medicinal flavor "fresh and invigorating."
The Kit Kat packages are imprinted with the face of Yasutaro Matsuki, a Japanese soccer commentator, in honor of Japan's participation in the 2018 World Cup. His cartoon face is drawn with a headset on, yelling (in Japanese), "It's one more point! Another point!"
The dual-purpose chocolate will be available in Japan until September 10.
