James Beard Foundation's Taste America Tour Returns For Its Fifth Year
The James Beard House in New York City has been the epicenter of the country's culinary scene since its namesake resided there. The house has since been turned into a showcase, welcoming chefs from around the country to cook for a small number of ticketholders.
This fall, for the fifth year in a row, the James Beard Foundation is flipping the script. Some of the country's most recognizable chefs are taking to the road, visiting 10 cities over six weekends. A multi-course dinner, called "A Night of Culinary Stars," will benefit the James Bead Foundation, including its namesake Taste America Scholarship Fund, open to culinary students in the host states. The All-Star chefs will be paired with local phenoms — in San Francisco, for instance, Hugh Acheson will team up with State Bird Provisions' Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski.
In addition to the delicious meal, the events will feature cooking demonstrations, book signings, and tastings of local dishes at Sur La Table, one of the event's sponsors. Those in the 10 host cities should mark their calendars for the following dates:
September 22-23: Phoenix
October 6-7: Los Angeles and New Orleans
October 13-14: Philadelphia and Seattle
October 27-28: Chicago and San Francisco
November 3-4: Austin and Boston
November 10-11: Kansas City
Tickets are already on sale for all cities and include access to the pre-dinner reception, silent auction and seated dinner. VIP tickets are available in select cities and will grant access to benefits such as meet-and-greets with the chefs, prime seating and more.
