The Inaugural New York City White Truffle Festival Kicks Off Nov. 5-12
Prunotto, a prominent winery known for its Nebbiolo-based red wines, and Urbani, a top purveyor of fresh truffles and truffle products have teamed up to honor Italy's white truffle festival which occurs every year in the Piedmont region. In celebration of this festival, these two exports are introducing the inaugural New York City White Truffle Festival. From Nov. 5-12, food and wine lovers will have the opportunity to dine at various New York City restaurants and indulge on special menus that showcase Prunotto wines paired with decadent truffle-based dishes.
Thoughtfully curated pairing menus, include options such as 2012 Prunotto Occhetti Nebbiolo d'Alba paired with poached egg topped with white truffle and pancetta with whipped ricotta on toasted brioche; 2010 Prunotto Barolo paired with tarjarin all'albese pasta with Parmigiano Reggiano, buro fuso and white truffle; and 2009 Prunotto Bussia Barolo paired alongside beef with roasted fall vegetable and truffle puree.
I had the opportunity to try some of these rich, fantastically tasty dishes at New York City's Urbani Truffle Lab and can honestly say these truffles not only smelled incredible, but took each authentic Italian dish to a new level of delicious. In addition, I had the pleasure of witnessing both white and black truffle deliveries to Urbani NYC. As you can imagine, the smell of crates full of truffles was indescribable.
