A Hello Kitty Café Is Coming To America
A Hello Kitty pop-up café is scheduled to open inside a shipping container at the Irvine Spectrum Center in Irvine, California, at the end of the month. It will be followed by the opening of a permanent Hello Kitty Café on the West Coast by next year.
The pop-up café will serve the same adorable fare as the Hello Kitty Café truck, which visited New York City in October. Expect to see plenty of sweet snacks like doughnuts decorated with bows, cookies featuring Hello Kitty and her Sanrio friends — My Melody, Chococat, and Keroppi, to name a few — plus macarons, and miniature cakes.
A daily tea service will be served, though the menu will also include artisanal sodas and coffee from Portola Coffee Lab.
Unfortunately, Sanrio has made no indications that the upcoming café will be a cat café, which is perhaps the only downside. We'll hold out hope, however, that Sanrio will reconsider as soon as everyone stops buying the ludicrous theory that Hello Kitty is not actually a cat.
