Harvey Refugees And Volunteers Receive Different Meals
According to TMZ, there is a discrepancy between the meals being served to Hurricane Harvey refugees and the volunteers at the Convention Center in Houston.
Photos show that the evacuees are receiving hot dogs, beans, and chips while the volunteers are eating things like pasta, rice, brownies, waffles, malts, and shakes.
It's unclear what lies behind the disparity, but many Houstonians have had to find creative ways to feed those affected by the flooding. Workers at one Pizza Hut kayaked 120 pizzas to hungry and stranded people in the area, while Waffle House has deployed out-of-town "jump teams" to keep the chain's restaurants open while allowing their local employees to focus on their own homes and families. Four bakers trapped in their own shop due to high flood waters managed to bake hundreds of loaves of pan dulce, which they brought to refugees at the convention center once they were able.
