Food Network Chef Anne Burrell Has A New Restaurant Planned For Brooklyn
Anne Burrell, the spiky-haired Food Network chef behind The Worst Cooks in America and Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, has plans for a restaurant in Brooklyn, the chef has confirmed.
Burrell's restaurant is scheduled to open in the spring at 196 Smith Street, taking over Char. No. 4 whiskey bar, which closed last summer. The chef will open the restaurant with Phil Casaceli, the owner of Daddy-O, a bar in the West Village.
"After several years of focusing on a very busy television career, Burrell is thrilled to make the leap back into the restaurant world, a passion that has never left her," Burrell's team said during a presentation before Brooklyn Community Board 6's permits and licenses committee.
Before her TV career took off, Burrell worked at Lidia Bastianich's restaurant Felidia and later Centro Vinoteca, an Italian restaurant in Manhattan.
According to the presentation, titled "The Phil & Anne Project," the upcoming restaurant will offer "food that feeds your soul — not just your body — in a comfortable and welcoming setting." The menu will likely be modern American, made in an open kitchen "for a more personal food experience."
A liquor license application was approved by the committee, and will be put to vote before the full board on April 13.
