The Daily Dish: Wegmans Markets Are Being Boycotted For Carrying Trump Wine
Wegmans Markets Are Being Boycotted for Carrying Trump Wine
In the wake of the "Nordstrom scandal," in which the national department store chain stopped carrying Ivanka Trump's clothing line, other stores are being pressured to do the same with Trump products. Wegmans — an upscale regional supermarket chain in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic regions — is under fire for continuing to carry Trump label wines at its Virginia stores, according to USA Today.
Calls to boycott Wegmans are being led by individuals and groups like non-profit political action group, Stop Trump Wine. Despite the outcry, Wegmans is refusing to back down: "Individual shoppers who feel strongly about an issue can demonstrate their convictions by refusing to buy a product. When enough people do the same... we stop selling that product in favor of one that's in greater demand," Wegmans spokeswoman Jo Natale told The Huffington Post.
Delta Brings Back Free In-Flight Meals
Delta has announced that free in-flight meals will be included for coach passengers on domestic flights between New York and San Francisco and Los Angeles starting Mar. 1, making it the only domestic airline to offer this for coast-to-coast flights. In April, the same service will be extended to flights to and from Seattle, Boston, and Washington, D.C. "We are all about making our main cabin experience the best it can be for our customers and offering free, high quality meals is a big part of that experience," said Allison Ausband, Delta's senior vice president of in-flight service in a statement.
A Craft Brewery in Brazil is Using Bonsai Trees to Make Beer
Craft breweries have used everything from the Wu-Tang Clan's music to cannabis to up their flavor. One brewer, Heroica, in the city of Jundiaí in Brazil, is switching it up and using the branches of centennial Japanese bonsai trees for its beer. The bonsai brewer, Lucas Domingues, got the idea when his brother-in-law, bonsai master, Renato Bocabello, gifted him a home brewing kit, according to Munchies. He's able to source the bonsai tree branches for his IPA recipe when Bocabello prunes more than 400 of his bonsai trees twice a year. A hundred of Bocabello's bonsai trees are kuromatsu, which he received as a gift from a third-generation member of a Japanese family that traveled to Brazil in 1912. Heroica's Kuromatsu Kamikaze IPA also includes Chinook, Amarillo, and Centennial hops. Only about 265 gallons of the brew are produced every two months.

McDonald's Designed a STRAW So You Can Get the Most Out of Your Shamrock Shakes
McDonald's has recently debuted its annual line of Shamrock Shakes, but that's not all. McDonald's wants you to make the most of your milkshake experience with its Suction Tube for Reverse Axial Withdrawal (STRAW), a straw designed specifically for the new frozen mint chocolate treat. The unique J-shaped straw and the placement of the four holes (with one at the bottom of the straw) were strategically designed to prevent the intake of air and get the most of each chocolate and mint flavor at any point of drinking your dual-layered Shamrock Shake. Free STRAWs will roll out in 80 cities over the next few weeks; however, the item is limited, with only 2,000 units produced, so order those shakes fast.
