Chef Stephanie Izard Heads To Portland For The James Beard Foundation's Taste America Dinner Oct. 21
The James Beard Foundation continues its fourth annual Taste America tour on Oct. 21 in Portland. The foundation is traveling to 10 cities across the country to host one-of-a-kind fundraising dinners highlighting local cuisine and headlined by a visiting all-star chef and local star chef, as well as cooking demos, artisanal tastings, and book signings.
The exclusive dinner benefiting the James Beard Foundation will take place at Hilton Portland & Executive Tower with the cocktail and tasting reception beginning at 6:30 p.m. Dinner begins at 8 p.m. and will feature a menu crafted by Taste America all-star and James Beard Award winner Stephanie Izard of Girl & The Goat in Chicago; local star and James Beard Award winner Greg Higgins of Higgins Restaurant and Bar; pastry chef and James Beard Award winner Ken Forkish of Ken's Artisan Bakery; and host chef Marissa Burback of HopCity Tavern + Market and Hilton & Executive Tower. The night will be emceed by Drew Carney, of Out & About and KGW NBC Portland Morning News, and Kelly Russell, CEO of Artisan Auctions.
The reception will feature tastings from James Beard Award winner Philippe Boulot of Multnomah Athletic Club; Chris Cosentino of Cockscomb in San Francisco; Gabrielle Quiñónez Denton and Greg Denton of Ox Restaurant; Gregory Gourdet of Departure Restaurant; Sarah Pliner of Aviary in Portland; and Justin Woodward of Castagna.
