Charlie Palmer Restaurant Group Launches Northern California Wine Dinner Series
Charlie Palmer is one of the country's most renowned and prolific chefs, with 17 restaurants in seven cities and three hotels under his belt. If you live in New York and are looking to experience his cooking in an intimate group setting with lots of wine to go around, then this is your lucky day: Palmer is kicking off a series of wine dinners, starting this week and continuing into April.
This Thursday (January 21), Aureole will be hosting a dinner in the private Halo Room, pairing the restaurant's Michelin-starred dishes with both Penfolds wines as well as Macallan Scotch whisky. The menu includes braised short rib and cavatelli with Macallan Fine Oak 17YO and 2011 Penfolds Shiraz, as well as venison Wellington paired with Macallan Sherry Oak 12YO and 2013 Penfolds Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz. Brand representatives from both Penfolds and Macallan will be on hand to guide diners through the tasting; you can RSVP by calling 212-319-1660.
Friday (January 22) marks the first of Palmer's Northern California Wine Dinner Series, at Charlie Palmer at The Knick. This dinner will pair chef Cliff Denny's dishes with single-vineyard pinot noirs from Waits-Mast, and the wine's proprietor, Brian Mast, will be on hand to lead the tasting. The menu includes spiced pork belly with herb spätzle paired with Waits-Mast 2012 Oppenlander Vineyard pinot noir, and Long Island duck breast with Waits-Mast 2012 Deer Meadows Vineyard pinot noir. Reservations can be made by calling 212-204-4983.
The Northern California Wine Dinner Series continues with a Plumpjack/ Cade dinner at Aureole on February 2, a Joseph Phelps dinner at Charlie Palmer Steak on March 6, and a Knights Bridge dinner at Aureole on April 8.
