Bastille Day In The [San Francisco] Bay
Even though American Independence Day is over, that doesn't mean Independence Day is over all over the world.
Beginning Sunday, July 10 through Saturday July 16, Café Claude, Gitane, and Gaspar Brasserie will celebrate Bastille Day with festive menus, French specials, and live jazz. "La Fête de la Bastille is a French tradition, and one we honor at our restaurants here in San Francisco," says owner Franck LeClerc. "I wanted to offer a variety of options for people wanting to join in the celebrations, from Champagne and Oysters at Gaspar, to cocktails at Gitane to a quintessentially French duo of French Onion Soup and a Croque Monsieur at Café Claude."
Café Claude, also known as the "Paris of the West" is at the heart of the city's Bastille Day celebrations with live jazz along the charming Claude Lane. There will also be festive cocktails, a cuvée special, and a prix-fixe menu. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on three out of the seven nights of the celebration, there will be live musicians to set the mood: The Groove Club and California Flight Project will play on July 14, Steve Lucky & Carmen Getit Show on July 15, and Trio Garufa on July 16. Guests can enjoy a variety of libations at the series of events as well.
Despite Gitane being a Spanish restaurant, it will also be partaking in the Bastille Day festivities as well with thirst-quenching cocktails and a preset menu as well. Last but certainly not least, Gaspar Brasserie will kick off the celebrations with oysters, Champagne, and jazz on the evenings of Thursday, July 14 and Saturday, July 16 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 pm with the Jeffrey Burr Trio. Reservations are recommended but are not required for all of these restaurants.
