Australian Chef Serves Avocado Toast For Dessert
Avocado toast is more than just a brunch-menu staple — it's arguably the glue that holds the four hemispheres together. And now you can order it for dessert as well as breakfast.
Chef Jason Wright of Arthur's Oysters & Seafood in Manly, New South Wales, a suburb of Sydney, has taken things to the next level with the new-and-improved innovative dish.
"Smashed avo on toast is so popular in Manly, I wanted to have some fun with food and do something that hasn't been done before," Wright told Manly Daily. "It is essentially breakfast as a dessert. Everyone who has tasted it is loving it."
Wright brings this unique take on the beloved breakfast item together by first mixing puréed avocado and vanilla bean ice cream. The "toast" is made from dehydrated, toasted coconut, white chocolate, and bread crumbs. It's then plated with dollops of mango purée and a corn-flake sauce, according to Manly Daily.
The dish will be available August 8 when Wright opens the doors to the new restaurant. But if you can't quite make the trip to Australia, here are 20 avocado recipes you can make at home.
