Atlanta's Best Food Truck Opens Brick-And-Mortar Taqueria
Since 2010, the Yumbii food truck has been offering a fusion of Korean and Mexican flavors around Atlanta at events, festivals, and everyday lunch and dinner locations. In December, owner Carson Young opened Yumbii Taqueria in South Buckhead, his first store location with Korean/Mexican dishes (tacos, nachos, burritos, bowls, and more) featuring Yumbii's signature blend of spices.
Start your meal with the sliders, a delectable combination of spicy pulled pork, sesame mayo, shredded cheese, soy-sesame vinaigrette salad, and cucumber kimchee. The pork melts in your mouth while the salad and kimchee add tangy accents to each bite.
Next, choose whether you want tacos, a burrito, a rice bowl, or a quesadilla, and select your meat among four options: rib-eye beef, spicy pulled pork, chicken, and stir-fried tofu. I ordered the fish taco from the "Favorites" menu. The fish taco is panko-crusted tilapia with a hoisin-tartar sauce, Yumbii's Korean barbeque sauce, and a soy-sesame vinaigrette salad. It is refreshing, tangy, and crispy all at once. I also had the rib-eye beef taco, which was juicy and tender with the Korean barbecue sauce that complements the meat perfectly.
Don't forget the fries. The sesame fries with chipotle ketchup are tangy and vaguely sweet — the perfect blend of flavors for which Yumbii is known. Perfectly seasoned, these are crispy on the outside yet still soft on the inside. Enjoy an entire basket on your own because, well, you're not going to want to share. They're not on our list of the best fries in America — yet!
