Amazon Is Delivering Whole Foods Groceries For Free In New York City And Florida

Amazon has expanded its free two-hour Whole Foods Market grocery delivery service to select areas in New York and Florida. Now, Amazon Prime members in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Palm Beach, and parts of Long Island and New York City (starting with lower Manhattan and Brooklyn) can order ingredients for dinner in their pajamas from the couch.

The service originally launched in February and was exclusive to Austin, Cincinnati, Dallas, and Virginia Beach as part of Amazon's $13.7 billion acquisition of Whole Foods Market. It has since launched in two dozen metropolitan areas, and is expected to take off in additional areas across the U.S. throughout 2018.

"We've been delighted with the customer response to delivery in as little as an hour through Prime Now, and we're excited to bring the service to our customers in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Palm Beach, Long Island and New York City," Whole Foods Market executive vice president of operations Christina Minardi said in a release. "Today's announcement is another way that we are continuing to expand access to our high-quality products and locally-sourced favorites."

Prime members in 24 cities currently have access to fresh and organic produce, baked, dairy, meat, seafood, and floral items, plus other pantry staples and select alcoholic beverages. Two-hour delivery is free on orders of $35 or more, and one-hour delivery costs an additional fee of $7.99.
