2017 Sun Wine & Food Fest To Bring Plenty Of Wine, Beer, Food, And Superstar Chefs To Mohegan Sun Jan. 27 To 29
Mohegan Sun's Sun Winefest has been one of the Northeast's premier wine festivals since it was first launched 14 years ago, but this year the culinary component is playing an even larger role than in the past, and the name of the festival have been changed to the Sun Wine & Food Fest to reflect that. So not only will the festival remain a must-visit for wine-lovers, it will also feature some spectacular culinary events as well.
Taking place over the weekend of January 27, the festival has added two new events that sound pretty awesome: On Friday night, chef Aarón Sánchez will be hosting a "Mexican Night Market" with traditional Mexican fare and specialty cocktails made with tequila and mescal. And on Sunday, none other than chef Mario Batali will be hosting a blowout brunch featuring his favorite brunch recipes; he'll also be hosting a live cooking demo.
These new events will join the familiar lineup of events from years past: a Bourbon tasting event with hors d'oeuvres and cigars on Friday night; the signature Grand Tasting on Saturday with more than 1,000 wines and beers to sample and chef demos on the main stage; and the Elite Cru Tasting of some of the world's finest wines on Saturday afternoon. And on Saturday night, chefs including Sánchez, Todd English, and Rocco DiSpirito will be among the two dozen chefs participating in the lavish Celebrity Chef Dine Around, serving dishes from live cooking stations with plenty of wine and beer to go around.
We've attended this festival in the past, and it's really as much fun as it sounds. If you love wine, beer, and gourmet food, and want to have the opportunity to meet some of the country's biggest celebrity chefs in one of the Northeast's finest resort-casinos, then you have no reason to let the Sun Wine & Food Fest pass you by this year.
