The 11 Most Ridiculous Pizzas Of All Time
More than just about any food, pizza is perfectly suited to being turned into something completely ridiculous. Seriously, it's just begging to be messed with. And the mad geniuses behind these 11 pizzas, which very well might be the wildest ones on earth, have certainly risen to the challenge.
Vinnie’s Pizza, Brooklyn: Edible Pizza Box
When a crazy pizza becomes a pop culture phenomenon, you know you're onto something. Created by the folks behind Vinnie's Pizza in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, this pizza is hilariously brilliant: It's a pizza inside its own edible box. And if this beast is too much food, Vinnie's also serves a slice inside its own edible box. Amazing.
Brazil: Roast Chicken
Some pizzeria in Brazil decided to top its pizza with the craziest things it could think of, including car tires and an entire case of beer. But we're partial to this one, topped with an entire roast chicken. It's just so silly.
The Vulgar Chef: Pizza-Ception
The Vulgar Chef turns out some wild creations (his ramen- and bacon-topped sushi roll was certainly notable), but this might be his wildest of all: It's a pizza, stuffed inside another pizza, all topped with Bagel Bites. "I wanted to create something a little more fundamental this week," the chef wrote. "I'm not really sure what fundamental means, but a pizza stuffed with a pizza with pizzas on top seems fundamental to me."
Japan: Bug Mix Pizza
This pizza is what the kids are calling "full of NOPE." It was created by someone in Japan, but other than that, details are scarce.
Pizza Hut Singapore: Double Sensation Pizza
Pizza Hut Singapore has, for some reason, been ground zero for completely absurd pizzas, and the fact that it's Pizza Hut Singapore makes it all even more absurd. The company has unveiled such insane creations as the Seafood Mix Pizza (shrimp, squid, tuna, onions, broccoli, and a healthy dose of mayonnaise) and the Ring of Fortune Pizza (pineapple, barbecue chicken, and mushrooms atop "crispy dough" with a crust stuffed with pumpkin and taro pastes, on a pizza shaped like a Chinese coin), but the Double Sensation takes the cake. Here's the rundown:
The pizza is separated into two rings, an inner ring and an outer ring. The outer ring's crust has melted mozzarella, Cheddar, and Parmesan oozing out of it and between that and ring number two is a pizza topped with cheese, salsa, bell peppers, mushrooms, and turkey ham. The inner ring is stuffed with chicken sausage, which itself is stuffed with cheese. Inside that ring is pepper Alfredo sauce, smoked chicken, and slices of zucchini. Oh, and at the center of it all is a cherry.
Foodbeast: Crazy Big Mac Pizza
The crazy folks at Foodbeast (creators of the two foot Taco Bell burrito) decided to combine two of America's great loves — pizza and Big Macs — and the results were certainly ridiculous. To make this creation, they slathered pizza dough with McDonald's special sauce, then topped that with Big Mac patties, cheese, more special sauce, and onions. This got topped with more pizza dough, chopped up patties, fries, and more special sauce before being sprinkled with sesame seeds and baked. Finally, some shredded lettuce completes the dish. It's a mashup for the ages.
Crazy Pedro’s, Manchester, UK: The Dirty Northerner
This Manchester pizzeria is completely absurd, and it's already renowned for insane creations like a Cadbury Crème Egg pizza; one topped with chopped sausage rolls, baked beans, and brown sauce; and the Ducky Fuzz, with shredded duck, chopped spring rolls, plum sauce, spring onions, and cucumber. But the craziest (and most delicious) one of all may be the Dirty Northerner, a cheese pizza topped with a mound of French fries and plenty of brown gravy. It's simple and insane.
Moose’s Tooth, Anchorage, AK: Mac-N-Cheese Pizza
Any pizzeria can take a pizza crust, add on some boxed macaroni and cheese, and bake it. But this acclaimed Alaska pizza joint has really taken the mac and cheese pizza to the extreme: The crust is brushed with garlic and olive oil and topped with mozzarella and provolone. Then it gets a layer of homemade macaroni and cheese, made with elbow macaroni, American, and Cheddar cheeses. This then gets topped with more cheese as well as slices of spicy sausage before being baked.
Gusto Pizza Co., Des Moines: The Elvis
International Pizza Huts have a lot of freedom to sell basically any type of pizza they want. Case in point: those Singaporean monstrosities and these "Cone Crust" ones from the United Arab Emirates. Parmesan-encrusted cones come loaded with Philadelphia cream cheese, honey-mustard chicken strips, or both. These pizzas aren't available any more, but they were surely legendary in their day.
Pizza Hut Middle East: Cone Crust Pizzas
International Pizza Huts have a lot of freedom to sell basically any type of pizza they want. Case in point: those Singaporean monstrosities and these "Cone Crust" ones from the United Arab Emirates. Parmesan-encrusted cones come loaded with Philadelphia cream cheese, honey-mustard chicken strips, or both. These pizzas aren't available any more, but they were surely legendary in their day.
Pizza Hut Middle East: Cheeseburger Crown Crust Pizza
Some people are apparently obsessed with mashing together cheeseburgers and pizza, including the wacky folks behind Pizza Hut Middle East. This creation from 2012 has a crust made of little cheeseburgers, and the pizza itself id topped with chunks of beef, special sauce, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. While it may sound palatable, the folks at Serious Eats actually tried the thing and called it "a pizza experiment that had clearly gone completely, and horribly, wrong." What's weirder, this or Pizza Hut Australia's meat pie crust pizza? You decide.
