10 Unexpected Finds At Whole Foods
Whole Foods is a very interesting place. They stock such a wide assortment of merchandise that the odds are pretty good that some of the items they sell are going to be pretty wild. With some help from the company itself, we tracked down 10 of the most unexpected finds at Whole Foods.
Limoncello Gelato
While this gelato doesn't have any alcohol in it (like its namesake liqueur does), it is imported from Italy, and made in small batches using an authentic slow churned recipe.
Potato & Pea Samosas
This Indian snack has been transformed into an hors d'oeuvre, filled with potatoes and green peas and seasoned with Southeast Asian herbs and spices.
Carrot Tropical Greens Fruit & Veggie Bars
Mango Baobab Trail Mix
Engine 2 Plant-Strong Thai Basil Edamame Burgers
This burger (which is from Engine 2, a diet-friendly line made exclusively for Whole Foods) is vegan, gluten-free, contains no cholesterol or saturated fat, and is Non-GMO Project Verified. It's made with a soybean and brown rice base, and additional ingredients include sweet potato, red quinoa, rolled oats, radishes, sesame seeds, and basil.
Fit Sticks in Tropical Hibiscus
Salmon Jerky
This is an interesting one, and it's certainly not for everybody (especially those who aren't a fan of fishy flavor), but this wild-caught salmon jerky contains 560 milligrams of Omega-3 per serving. In addition to the original flavor, there are alsos Pink Peppercorn or Miso Ginger options.
Nacho Cheese Cashews
Ever dunk your cashews in nacho cheese? No? Well you might want to after trying these nacho cheese flavored cashews, which are coated with Cheddar cheese, buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, and parsley
Blueberry Pancake Pork Sausage
We're going to guess that these sausages contain blueberries and maple syrup (and probably not much in the way of pancakes), but the name alone stopped us dead in our tracks.
Emu Eggs
Emu are native to Australia, and their eggs are a certifiable luxury item, selling for $35 a pop at a New York Whole Foods. Each egg weighs about two pounds and contains the equivalent of 12 chicken eggs. The flavor is a lot richer than that of chicken eggs and that blue-green color is pretty spectacular, too!
