8 Fattening Cocktails To Avoid Slideshow

This creamy drink enjoyed a resurgence of popularity after The Dude proclaimed it his drink of choice in the 1998 cult classic The Big Lebowski. In its purest form, it's a mix of vodka, Kahlua, and cream, poured over ice in an old-fashioned glass. The typical four-ounce White Russian certainly packs a caloric punch, though, at 425 calories, which is roughly equivalent to two glazed doughnuts.

Frozen Margarita

The typical, eight-ounce frozen margarita (made with limeade) that you find at chain restaurants across America contains a staggering 740 calories. (The Lobsterita from Red Lobster takes the cake with an incredible 890 calories!) For the same amount of calories, you could order a seven-layer burrito and a beef chalupa from Taco Bell.

Piña Colada

If you like Piña Coladas, hopefully you like brisk jogs in the rain, too. You'll need one after ingesting one of these sugary, tropical cocktails, which typically have around 650 calories, depending on the pre-made mix you're using. That's the equivalent of 16 Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies.

Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri

A flavored frozen daiquiri may seem less egregious than a cream-based drink, but the calories are still nothing to sneeze at. A strawberry or mango daiquiri at Red Lobster, for instance, will set you back 350 calories, the same amount as a piece of fried chicken breast or thigh at KFC.

Long Island Iced Tea

There's a reason Long Island Iced Teas are a favorite among broke college students — the super-potent drink contains an approximate 780 calories, roughly the equivalent of a meal. In other words, it will keep you rocking all night long (which you'll have to do in order to burn it off anyway). A McDonalds cheeseburger and large order of fries will more or less cost you the same amount of calories.

Mudslide

Why eat dessert when you can drink it? A six-ounce Mudslide is like a chocolate shake for grown-ups, made from Baileys, Kahlua, chocolate and vanilla ice creams, and a shot of heavy cream, just for good measure. It's unsurprising, therefore, that the drink packs about 556 calories, most of which are from fat. Compare that to a Pepperoni Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut, which is 560 calories — only four calories more.

Mai Tai

This popular tiki drink contains four kinds of alcohol — and a heck of a lot of calories. A nine-ounce mai tai has 620 calories to be exact, which happens to be the same amount in a Wendy's Double Cheeseburger. Ouch.

Scorpion Bowl

The Scorpion Bowl is the mother of all cocktails, containing a vast array of ingredients — from gin to vodka to rum to grenadine. A 12-ounce serving is no joke, at 311 calories, but an entire, 48-ounce bowl is an insane 1,244 calories. Luckily, few people would be able to drink a scorpion bowl by themselves... we hope.
