The Jefferson Hotel Launches New Travel Package In Time For Hamilton Open

The sensational Broadway hit, Hamilton, debuts in D.C. on June 12 at The Kennedy Center and The Jefferson Hotel has a fun-packed three-day culinary travel package that fans of history, Broadway, and food will adore.

So if you are considering a vacation in Washington, D.C. this summer you should set aside three days to experience Feud of the Founding Fathers hosted by The Jefferson. The hotel's one-of-a-kind travel itinerary highlights the fascinating history of the political feud between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton and, along with the hotel's award-winning accommodations, includes a three-day immersive culinary travel itinerary.

This unique experience coincides with the June 12 debut of the Broadway smash Hamilton at The Kennedy Center, which runs from Tuesday, June 12 to Sunday, September 16. My suggestion—if you want to take advantage of both is get your Hamilton tickets and your room reservation at The Jefferson now—otherwise, you may miss this incredible opportunity; tickets sell out fast.

Here's what you can expect when you sign up for the special Feud of the Founding Fathers itinerary:

  • Summer Special: Available only this summer, now, until Sunday, September 16, you can reserve three nights for the price of two when you make your reservation through The Jefferson's website.
  • Rivalry Pairings at Plume: Americans, despite protests to the contrary, love a good political rivalry and eating well, so if you fall into both categories you'll love Michelin-starred Plume restaurants new menu. It has created a special wine and food menu just for Feud of the Founding Fathers with evocative wine pairings from sommelier David Metz that reference the two Founding Fathers' opposing views of our democracy.
  • Pick Your Side Itinerary: Military cemeteries, statues and landmark buildings make the nation's capital a living monument to our nation' history. This palpable connection to the past makes history come alive and even more so with The Jefferson's new program, Discovering American Democracy. When you stay at The Jefferson be sure to take one of the self-guided walking tours (curated by in-house historian, Susan Sullivan Lagon, Ph.D.). You can choose from a range of itineraries such as Famous Pets in Washington, The Pursuit of Justice, How Women Helped Shape American Life and Culture, and most importantly for Hamilton fans, Discover Alexander Hamilton.
  • Rival Cocktails: What's the best way to unwind after a day sightseeing and walking tours? With a refreshing and reviving cocktail at Quill, The Jefferson's clubby, leather-bound lounge. It's playing along with the Feuding Founding Fathers theme and offering cocktails inspired by both Jefferson and Hamilton. A botanical drink references Jefferson's love farming and horticulture while the rum-based cocktail is a nod to Hamilton's origins in the West Indies.
  • Saturday Talks: History buffs will get some keen insight into the two Founding Fathers' views on democracy and government during in-house historian Susan Sullivan Lagon, Ph.D. talks. Learn how both men's views differed on state powers and central government.
  • Book Room: For bookworms, the ultimate retreat is a quiet corner, a comfy seat on a plush sofa, and a deep dive into a fascinating book. If so, during your stay be sure to peruse the books on both Jefferson and Hamilton available to hotel guests.
