Tim And Nancy Cushman Headline At Eataly Flatiron's Manzo March 28th
The James Beard Award-winning Chef Tim and Nancy Cushman of Covina on West 27th Street are moving a few blocks south for one night only to join Chef Adam Hill at Manzo, the premiere restaurant at Eataly Flatiron.
Each month, Chef Hill collaborates with another New York-based Chef to create a dish exclusive to Manzo. The criteria: It must incorporate fresh ingredients from Manzo's impressive list of local producers. Choosing from suppliers like Norwich Meadows Farm, Channing Daughters Vineyard, Raven and Boar, Invincible Summer Farms and La Quercia, the finished dish appears on Manzo's menu all month long. And when diners select it from the restaurant's menu, a percentage of the proceeds for its sale go to the Charity of the visiting chef's choice. In the case of the Cushmans, that charity is City Meals on Wheels which delivers meals to the city's homebound elderly.
On March 28th, the Cushmans themselves will join Chef Hill to cook their dish. It may look like an ordinary dog but it's extraordinary. It's a Heritage Raven and Boar Hot Dog with Brie, Truffled Dijonaise and Dash Pickle Relish. The chefs' long-awaited appearance at Manzo was postponed as the city suffered through one of March's four snowstorms.Now set for Dinner Service on the 28th, reservations are a must for this special event. On that day only, the price of the Cushman's contribution will be 50 percent off and Manzo will double its donation to City Meals on Wheels every time the dish is ordered. Tim and Nancy Cushman's special will be followed by a dish from Janine Booth. Ms. Booth of Root & Bone, the Southern Food restaurant in the East Village, will create the final dish of the season. What her dish is will be announced April 1st. And, as in the case of the Cushmans, Janine will make. a personal appearance on April 4th and serve her creation.
