Fanta Releases Salty Watermelon Fanta In Japan
Summer sodas are cool and refreshing, but they are not normally salty. That's about to change for some customers in Japan, however, because Coca-Cola Japan just announced the upcoming release of a new watermelon-flavored Fanta, and it's actually salty.
Melons often taste good with a little salt added. That's one of the reasons melon tastes so good with prosciutto, though–to be fair–most things taste good with prosciutto. According to Rocket News 24, the new Fanta has taken that flavor combination to heart and will be nice and salty when it debuts on July 4.
The addition of salt to the soda is also supposed to help protect imbibers from heat stroke, because salt and water help replenish fluids lost through sweating when the weather gets very hot.
The new salty watermelon Fanta officially goes on sale on July 4, but unfortunately it is only being released in Japan. Japan gets all the coolest stuff.
