Chow Down On Hot Dogs From The First-Ever Food Truck At Sea
Food trucks are becoming more mobile than ever! Royal Caribbean announced that they will be installing the world's first food truck at sea, amongst other "dynamic dining" options— including Jamie Oliver's first restaurant on a cruise ship—on their brand-new, much-anticipated Quantum of the Sea fleet. The Seaplex DogHouse offers gourmet hot dogs for guests at the Seaplex indoor active space. For more upscale options, there's the first at-sea outpost of Jamie Oliver's hugely popular Britain-based Jamie's Italian, which will feature his spin on Italian classics.
"Royal Caribbean shares my approach to food and dining, which is to serve simple, fresh ingredients in a warm, inviting ambience," said Jamie Oliver in a statement. "I couldn't be more excited to bring my love of Italian cooking to their guests with Jamie's Italian. It's going to be brilliant!"
Royal Caribbean says that it's really pushing the envelope in creating a more versatile dining experience aboard their new ships. Instead of the usual main dining room, they will be offering guests five complimentary, full-service restaurants, like Wonderland, which will be serving unusual and imaginative dishes; and Michael's Genuine Pub, which will be offering fare from James Beard award-winning chef, Michael Schwartz.
Quantum of the Seas will set sail this fall, followed by the sister ship Anthem of the Seas in spring 2015.
