CBS To Launch Teen-Targeted Healthy Cooking Shows (Including One With Jamie Oliver)
This fall, CBS will launch a teen-targeted three-hour programming block of six new shows, two of which are cooking-themed. With the press release's emphasis on "healthy eating makeovers," the shows are perhaps intended to motivate teen viewers to set aside snack foods and get into the kitchen themselves.
Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is one of the programming block's headliners: a new show called Jamie Oliver's 15 Minute Meals will have the chef prepare healthy, fast meals in real time. CBS hopes that the show "will inspire cooks of all ages and levels to try new things and get in the kitchen to create something magical," according to the press release.
Another food-focused show, Recipe Rehab, is a cooking challenge in which two chefs will compete in creating low-calorie versions of submitted high-calorie recipes. The show "promotes using healthy, wholesome ingredients and shows healthy food choices can have positive effects on quality of life."
The programming block is the result of a partnership with independent production company Litton Entertainment, and will be called "The CBS Dream Team, It's Epic!" The featured shows all have a "pro-social message," and will "offer uplifting, educational and entertaining messages on subjects of interest to teenage audiences."
The new programs will show Saturday mornings beginning Sept. 28.
