Turn Your Home Into A Stadium With This Delicious Cracker Jack Recipe
When you hear the classic baseball tune Take Me Out to the Ballgame, you can't help but crave a box of Cracker Jack. While buying some is a simple option, especially at the ballpark, you can make your own at home almost as easily. In fact, once you mix freshly popped popcorn and freshly roasted nuts with a caramel glaze, you may never want to buy the box again.
Forget the microwave popcorn and begin with your own stovetop batch. After your popcorn is ready, toss it in the oven with the peanuts to roast. In order to roast peanuts put them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure they are spread out in one thin layer. Season with salt and a drizzle of olive oil. You can throw them in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes and they're ready.
While the nuts and popcorn are roasting make the caramel. Simply heat granulated sugar in a saucepan over medium high heat, stirring it consistently (be sure to use a wooden spoon). The sugar will form clumps and eventually melt into a thin brown liquid. Keep stirring until it thickens and add butter once the sugar is completely melted.
Pour the sweet caramel over your popcorn and roasted peanuts and there you are — something even better than the stadium version. You can even use your homemade Cracker Jack mix as a topping for decadent brownies or a sundae. Your guests will wish it was game night every night.
