Best Piano Bars In Sacramento

A long time ago, classic piano bars weren't hard to find. The same cannot be said in 2014. Currently, if you want to catch a piano being played at a bar, you have to be at the right place on the right night. The list isn't a long one but you can still enjoy the sounds of the piano keys being hit at a couple of places in the Sacramento area. If piano bars are your thing, then read along and see where this list takes you.

Everyone knows Dive Bar — it's the trendy place on K Street with the mermaid. A lot of people thought this concept wouldn't last a year, but they were wrong. Outside of serving amazing cocktails, Dive Bar is a place where you can check out dueling pianos on Thursday nights. Starting at 9 p.m. and going until roughly midnight, you can enjoy the sounds of the piano while soaking in your surroundings and taking advantage of revolving specials at the bar. Dive Bar is a place worth checking out on Thursday nights, or any night really.

Back Door Lounge
1112 Firehouse Alley
Sacramento, CA 95814
(916) 442-5751

Back Door Lounge is not really a "piano bar" but it does have a piano in the corner of the dark velvet-walled bar. Stiff drinks and an alleyway entrance really enhance the Old Sac dive bar feel. On Fridays or Saturdays, you have the chance to get an earful of someone playing the piano. It is independently operated and about as far from corporate as you can get. If you'd like an experience that's anything but the norm, plan a night at the Back Door Lounge.

A piano bar in a converted bus? Sounds claustrophobic, right? Not necessarily. This is a place that holds all of the elements of the classic piano bar, concentrated in a small yet powerful package. Acoustic Sanctuary is hands down the most creative and truest-to-form piano bar on the list. A venue for both music and comedy, Acoustic Sanctuary is owned and operated by Winko Ljizz who is considered by many to be Sacramento's original one man band. This place is a really fun experience and one where the owner's passion for music and entertaining is plain to see.
