Best Outdoor Basketball Courts In Seattle

The greater Seattle area is home to many outdoor basketball courts available for public use. These courts are part of the extensive park system in the area. Many City of Seattle parks have half and full courts available for use, and most are first-come, first-serve. Occasionally, local events are held at these courts, and the public is welcome to attend.

The outdoor basketball courts at Green Lake Park in Seattle are located by the Green Lake Community Center. It is located north of downtown Seattle. The facility is one full court nestled in an area great for picnics or other lawn activities such as frisbee. The court is well maintained, and available during park hours. Other activities in the park include walking or running the lakeside trail, swimming, bird watching and wading in the kiddie pool. There is something to do here for everyone in the entire family.

Alki Playground is located in West Seattle, and there are two outdoor basketball half-courts. These courts are available during park hours. The playground sits in between Alki Elementary School and the Alki Community Center. The park also houses a children's play area that is accessible for individuals with disabilities, tennis courts, soccer fields and public restrooms. It is located close to Alki Beach and Puget Sound.

The Mathay-Ballinger Park is located in southeast Edmonds near I-5 off of Highway 104 near Lake Ballinger. This park has two half-courts, and is a great place to shoot hoops. Players need to bring their own basketballs to use on the court. This court is open during park hours, and free for public usage. The park has public restrooms, picnic areas and dogs are allowed on leashes.

Hickman Park is located in south Edmonds at the old Woodway Elementary School. This park has two well-maintained basketball half-courts. The courts are open to the public, and players need to bring their own basketball to use on the court. The park is open and grassy with areas for picnic lunches. Covered shelters make it convenient to get out of the rain on the unpredictable weather days in the area. Besides the courts, the park has public restrooms, play equipment for children and other amenities.

Denny Playfield is located in downtown Seattle next to Denny Park and is on the northern end of the business district. This is a full-court basketball court. It is open to the public during park hours. Players need to bring their own basketballs to use on the courts. This location is great for travelers in downtown Seattle. It is located near many of the area's hotels and youth hostels. Denny Park is a great place to walk and experience gardens in the heart of downtown Seattle.
