Ballastone Inn Offers Up Southern Hospitality

The Ballastone Inn in Savannah, Ga., is offering special packages for travelers looking to book a last-minute trip in August.

The intimate, Victorian-style bed-and-breakfast has its best rates for stays Mondays through Thursdays in August, with room rates from $179 to $365.

Originally built in 1838, the Ballastone Inn is located in Savannah's historic district. The luxury inn features a parlor and private bar, plus 16 sumptuously outfitted bedrooms on four floors, an elevator, and a private courtyard garden. Wine and small bites are served in the evenings at Federal, the inn's private bar. The hotel also serves breakfast and afternoon tea daily.

Several Ballastone vacation packages, which can be added to the room rate, are available, including a walk, ride, and dine tour, and a Savannah dinner and sightseeing tour.

The $100 walk, ride, and dine tour includes two tickets on the Savannah Old Town Trolley Tour, which is a hop-on, hop-off trolley tour of Savannah's historic sites, two tickets to either the Earl Moore Walking Tour or Cobblestone Tours, two walking tour options, and a $25 gift certificate for lunch at either the Soho South Cafe or the Olde Pink House.

The Savannah dinner and sightseeing tour includes a carriage tour around Savannah, an historic walking tour, tickets for the Owens-Thomas House, the Jepson Center for the Arts, and the Telfair Museum, and a $50 gift certificate for dinner at Circa 1875, Olde Pink House, or Alligator Soul. The weekend package is $250.
