2014 St. Louis Fall Theater Preview

My, how time flies. And if you don't make plans to fit some great theater in this fall, you may just miss out on some great shows. There are plenty of venues and a wide variety to shows from which to choose, so don't hesitate. Get out the calendar and nail down the dates. You won't want to miss the fall theater season in St. Louis.

The lineup at one of St. Louis' most premier theaters is full of wonderfully engaging and entertaining stage productions. To the delight of Fox patrons, concerts are also a great part of the theater schedule. This fall, enjoy some spectacular concert entertainment beginning with Austin Mahone, MTV teen sensation, singer-songwriter, on September 5, 2014. Tickets range from $25 to $65. You should not miss the chance to see rock legend Ringo Star and his All Star Band on October 3. Ticket prices are a bargain beginning at $49.50 to $127.50. When will you get another opportunity to take in the musical genius, wit and humor of this former Beatle? The Piano Guys, from Utah, grace the Fox stage on October 18 for a great evening of original classical-pop compositions. Tickets range from $32 to $103.

While you are scheduling you fall theater calendar, don't forget to include some fabulous stage productions in addition to your concert lineup. Relive the summer of 1963, and love's angst and drama, as "Dirty Dancing" comes to the Fox from October 21 to November 2. Also discover how one man, Berry Gordy, brought Motown magic to the world and enjoy some of its classic hits of the era from November 18 through 30 as "Motown the Musical" heats up the stage. If you are looking for great theatrical entertainment this fall, it's at the Fox.

The Main Stage at the Loretto-Hilton Center is the home to a spectacular fall season of great theater. Its intimate setting is a great place to enjoy engaging productions like "One Man, Two Guvnors." This great play about Francis Henshall's madcap moonlighting mishaps as he tries to make ends meet opens on September 10, 2014 and runs through October 5. Catch classic Shakespeare, "A Midsummer Night's Dream," directed by Paul Mason Barnes from October 15 to November 9. Don't forget to consult the Rep's complete season line-up as you plan your theater going this fall. Additionally, the Rep's main stage productions of "A Kid Like Jake," running October 29 through November 16, shouldn't be missed either.

The 28th great season of theater at Stages St. Louis rounds out with a classic production of "Fiddler on the Roof." This touching story of love, life and turmoil in an historical setting never fails to please theater-loving audiences. This Tony Award winner features all of the great music of "Sunrise, Sunset," "If I Were A Rich Man" and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," as well as great characters, scenery and costumes. It's an evening to remember. "Fiddler" runs from September 5 through October 5 at the Robert G. Reim Theater.

Great theater isn't only for adults. In fact, it may be better enjoyed by the entire family. Since 1984, St. Louis Shakespeare has been producing fabulous Shakespearean classics for the community, young and old. Its touring company travels to schools across the area to enlighten the young to the magnificence of Shakespeare. The reluctant lovers of "Much Ado About Nothing" grace the stage of the Grandel Theater in this classic romantic comedy. Come out to see this fabulous show from October 17 to the 25. You won't find any theater priced more affordably in St. Louis, with ticket prices starting at $15 for students and $20 for general admission seats.
