2012 Silver Plate Awards Winners Announced

The International Foodservice Manufacturers Association named Friday the 2012 winners of the Silver Plate Awards, which recognizes excellence in the nine segments of the foodservice industry.

The winners are chosen based on their outstanding industry achievements and commitment to innovation.

This year's recipients are:

Chain Fast Service: Cheryl Bachelder (pictured left), president, chief executive, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen/AFC Enterprises, Atlanta.

 

 Chain Full Service: Clarence Otis Jr. (pictured left), chairman, chief executive officer, Darden Restaurants, Orlando, Fla.

Independent Restaurants: Phil Fahrenbruch, executive chef, Bavarian Inn of Frankenmuth, Frankenmuth, Mich.

Specialty Foodservice: Ricky Clark, training and development coordinator supervisor, Virginia Department of Corrections, Crozier, Va.

Foodservice Management: Mark Freeman, senior manager of global employee services, Microsoft, Redmond, Wash.

Elementary and Secondary Schools: Lyman Graham, food services director, Roswell Independent School District, Carlsbad Municipal Schools, Dexter Consolidated Schools, Roswell, N.M.

Health Care: Dan Henroid, director, nutrition and food services, UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco

Colleges and Universities: Mary Molt, assistant director, Housing and Dining Services, Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kan.

Hotels and Lodging: Frank Weber, vice president of food and beverage operations, Royal Caribbean International and Azamara Club Cruise Lines, Miami.

The Silver Plate winners are chosen by a jury of industry trade press editors, other foodservice experts and the chairman of the International Gold & Silver Plate Society.

The annual Gold Plate recipient is selected from the nine Silver Plate winners, and will be announced on May 7 at the 58th annual Gold & Silver Plate Awards Celebration at the Great Hall at Union Station in Chicago.
