Mythical Kitchen's White Russian Mocktail Is Simply Hilarious

Chefs Josh Scherer, Nicole Enayati, Trevor Evarts, Vianai Austin, and Lily Cousins are the hosts of "Mythical Kitchen" across various social media platforms. The channel is known for slipping in some less-than-accurate recipes amongst actual food tips, recipes, and fun food-related videos, often confusing viewers with what's real and what's not.

For example, in one YouTube video, the chefs compared air fried vs. deep-fried foods and busted some common air-frying myths. But in another, they created an extremely sugary dessert mashup of Twinkies and Mountain Dew, complete with a Mountain Dew Code Red frosting filling.

If you're looking for more weird and unusual cooking videos like Maine Pizza, the Mythical Kitchen TikTok is the place to search. In a recent video, chef Scherer showed a way to make a White Russian mocktail, citing "health and wellness" for the alcohol-free, caffeine-free change. However, some fans were skeptical about the drink being a legitimate replacement for the cocktail.

The drink uses a lot of dairy products

In the video, Josh Scherer first adds ice to a cocktail shaker. He then measures 4 ounces of whole milk and 1½ ounces of half and half. He proceeds to shake up the mixture, then works on the drink's garnish.

He adds a decorative element to the drink by filling a ramekin with even more whole milk and dipping the rim of the glass into the ramekin. Once the glass is placed back on the table, he adds some ice. He holds a strainer above the glass, stating that pouring the drink from higher up will "... get a little bit of aeration into it."

Scherer put the proverbial cherry on top of the drink by pouring some heavy whipping cream over a spoon inside the glass, carefully laying it on top of the ice and milk mix, making it a layered drink.

Many viewers already knew the video was a joke

The video's comment section was filled with fans of Mythical Kitchen reacting to the recipe, with many viewers already knowing that it was intended as a joke. Quite a few people commented, sharing that they couldn't enjoy this drink since they were lactose intolerant — with one person even calling the drink "...an extra effort glass of milk." Others decided to play along, asking if it could be made vegan or suggesting adding cereal as an edible garnish to the top of the drink.

While the Mythical Kitchen TikTok recipe may have just been a silly video meant to garner views and reactions for the channel, there are ways to make the cocktail alcohol-free. If you're looking for an authentic mocktail version of the White Russian, you can swap in some coffee for the Kahlua vanilla crème soda in lieu of the vodka.
