People Really Do Eat Cereal With Orange Juice, Apparently

While some may be busy debating whether the milk or cereal should be poured in the bowl first, others are more concerned with which liquid to use. Though non-dairy milks — like oat, almond, and soy — are commonly used in cereal bowls, others prefer a more fruity experience. Rather than adding milk to cereal, some people pour in some orange juice instead.

Back in 2022, Tropicana encouraged the trend by releasing Tropicana Crunch cereal in celebration of National Orange Juice Day. The honey-almond flavored cereal was designed specifically to taste good in a bowl of orange juice and fans of the brand could only snag a box through the Tropicana website.

While cereal and orange juice are pretty popular at the breakfast table, they are most commonly enjoyed separately, not together. Still, the unusual combination of both in one bowl is enjoyed by some — and endorsed by one celebrity in particular.

One actor enjoys the meal often

Actor Bella Ramsey, most recently known for starring in HBO Max's "The Last of Us," revealed that they enjoy eating cereal with orange juice swapped in for the milk. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, when asked about the last meal they ate, Ramsey revealed it was a bowl of corn flakes, bran, dried strawberries, and orange juice.

Their co-star, Pedro Pascal, expressed surprise at the swap. Ramsey explained that they discovered the combo "years ago," when they were unable to find any non-dairy milk to go with their cereal. Ramsey has been vegan since at least 2017 and doesn't drink dairy milk.

"And you liked it?" Pascal asked, to which Ramsey responded, "I loved it. It's been a thing ever since." When Pascal expressed concern over how the meal would feel during digestion, Ramsey said, "It's actually fine." However, their unusual breakfast choice had the internet divided.

Some fans liked the combo, while others were skeptical

Over on Twitter, one user tweeted that they were "still not over the fact that Bella Ramsey eats their cereal with ORANGE JUICE. (also don't try it.)" Ramsey saw the tweet and responded, saying, "I had it for breakfast this morning." They then followed up with another tweet, sharing a photo of the breakfast as proof.

After Ramsey's interview went viral, many fans took to Twitter to discuss the food. One Twitter user tried a small amount, including the dried strawberries, as recommended by Ramsey, and said it "tasted like Fruity Pebbles." Another fan seemingly reluctantly admitted enjoying the combo, tweeting that they "just tried the orange juice and red berry cereal combo.... Bella was right I fear."

Still, others weren't convinced. Twitter user @sourkettle taste-tested the combo, saying, "I've had it and my stomach started burning." Another wrote, "Cereal with orange juice ... Bella I can't defend you." Would you try this divisive dish for your next breakfast?
