14 'Secret Menu' Hacks You Have To Try At Chick-Fil-A
Nothing spurs our intrigue and gets us to head to our favorite fast food joint faster than learning about its latest secret menu item. Sometimes these lesser-known dining options are even better than what is regularly offered at your favorite restaurant. But if you're a poultry fan, it's hard to top what's on Chick-fil-A's standard menu.
While there are rumors about fried pickles and whispers about chicken quesadillas, Chick-fil-A says that's a load of nonsense. "Yes, you read that correctly. Not everything you read on the internet is true, but one thing is for certain: Chick-fil-A does not have a secret menu," the company writes on their official website.
In fact, if you ask for something that's not on Chick-fil-A's menu, you won't get it. Team members are prohibited from serving off-menu items. However, you can add or remove ingredients when you order through the Chick-fil-A app to come up with tasty creations of your own. We've listed 14 secret menu hacks to get your ideas and taste buds flowing.
1. Double Cookie Milkshake
Do you know what makes milkshakes better? Cookies. And this secret menu hack doubles up on them. It was recommended by the chicken chain, which refers to it as "cookie heaven." First, you'll need to order a hand-spun Cookies & Cream Milkshake made with Chick-fil-A Icedream dessert.
Next, grab yourself a Chocolate Chunk Cookie. It's basically an oversized oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. Not only are these babies big and soft, but they have two types of chocolate chunks in them: semi-sweet and milk. Some rolled oats are mixed into the batter, which bulks it up nicely.
Top your Double Cookie Milkshake off with whipped cream and a cherry, and you are in business. This creamy creation also doubles up on the chocolate with pieces of sandwich cookies on top of those giant chocolate chips. After sipping everything through your straw, you can go back in with a spoon and scoop up the cream-soaked left cocoa chunks. It's like a second dessert.
2. Famous Sauce Chick-fil-A with Mac n Cheese
This hack combines several of the chain's best items — a Chick-fil-A Sandwich, Waffle Potato Fries, and Mac & Cheese — into one colossally amazing secret menu sandwich. The sandwich's creator, who goes by @sociallyawkwardbaker on Instagram, didn't give it an official name. It was something they dreamed up as a way to eat "some feelings away" and "decompress" after a stressful week. "It really was soooo good. I may or may not have had two of them," they wrote.
This starts with a classic Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, which company founder Truett Cathy created in the early 1960s. The recipe hasn't changed since Cathy came up with the blend of seasoning and toppings. Since then, every one has been made with a flavorful piece of breaded boneless chicken breast that is pressure cooked in 100% refined peanut oil which is served on a buttery bun that's toasted alongside two dill pickle chips.
Instagram user @sociallyawkwardbaker tops his chicken sandwich with the chain's famous Chick-fil-A Sauce, which is a blend of honey mustard, barbecue, and ranch, and a few waffle cut fries, which are cooked in canola oil and are seasoned with sea salt. Then he plops on a scoop of Mac & Cheese before replacing the other side of the bun. "They taste amazing all stacked together in this beautiful sandwich mash I made!" @sociallyawkwardbaker wrote.
3. Chick-n-Minis Masterpiece
Your breakfast is about to get even tastier at Chick-fil-A who came up with this menu hack as a way to boost one of its existing breakfast offerings, the Chick-n-Minis. This tasty a.m. treat comes in a count of four or 10 chicken nuggets that are served on warm slider yeast rolls slightly slathered in a spread of honey butter.
Chick-fil-A decided to upgrade this offering by suggesting you add a hash brown that is dipped in one (or two!) of your favorite sauces. Soak your piece of fried potato well and stick it between the chicken and your mini bun.
Chick-fil-A advises you to "Just remember: RTCR – Roll, Tater, Chicken, Roll" and calls the Chick-n-Minis Masterpiece "the ultimate breakfast (mini) sandwich." The chain recommends pairing it with a coffee or frosted treat "to start your day off right." You're already eating fast food chicken for breakfast so why not go nuts?
4. Keto-Friendly Chicken Club
Chick-fil-A offers a fair share of keto-friendly options. This menu hack from @the_meltdown_mama on Instagram is super simple, but one of our favs. It's a carb-less take on the Chick-fil-A Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich. This sandwich comes with a boneless piece of chicken breast that's bathed in a lemon and herb marinade. The patty is grilled into a juicy masterpiece that offers a smoky cooked on-your-own grill taste. It gets a thin slab of Colby Jack before it's topped with applewood smoked bacon.
Not into Colby Jack? You can switch it up and opt for American or pepper jack instead. The Chick-fil-A Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich is served with some lettuce and tomato and comes on a multigrain brioche bun. The chain recommends topping it with some Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce.
Instagrammer @the_meltdown_mama's keto-positive version doesn't opt for that sugary sauce and instead uses Garden Herb Ranch for dipping. She orders her Chick-fil-A Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich without bread and asks for it on a salad plate so you can eat it like it's a chicken dish instead of a sandwich.
5. Grilled Chicken Pickle Surprise
This menu hack might also count as a keto-friendly option. The Honey Roasted BBQ sauce does have added sugar, according to Fooducate, but this is still a bread-free option. We call it the "Grilled Chicken Pickle Surprise." It was re-posted on Instagram by @mrsbusterw and @jessgetzfit who credits Instagrammer @chip0ltay with the hack.
This hack involves ordering a 12-count of grilled chicken nuggets. These little chunks of boneless chicken are marinated and grilled to perfection. They come in pieces of five, eight, or a dozen. Then you ask for a side of pickles. According to Redditors some Chick-fil-A's may or may not charge you for a small cup of them.
Next, pour in one pack of the sweet and smoky Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce and a packet of yellow mustard. Mix it all together, and wham! You have yourself a Grilled Chicken Pickle Surprise that serves as a healthier option for a nosh.
6. Grilled Cheese
This is kind of a controversial menu hack. Chick-fil-A claims that they do not serve a grilled cheese sandwich. And they really don't. But vloggers Kristin and Jamil on Facebook came up with a menu hack that can sort of pass for a grilled cheese, but just barely. A video on their Facebook page shows them going through the chain's drive-thru to order one and their review of it begins at the three-minute mark.
The employee had trouble putting it into the system at first, but eventually figured it out. It was entered into the Chick-fil-A system as a "toasted bun with cheese." Kristin said that she was able to order it with a cheese of her choosing and selected melted pepper jack.
While the melted cheese is quite tasty over the buttery bun, there was barely one piece of cheese on that thing. It's certainly not enough to constitute an official grilled cheese sandwich. However, it hits the spot if you have a hankering for some bread and cheese. You might even be able to order extra cheese on it.
7. Chick-fil-A Double Down and Chick Kick
This is a menu hack that was inspired by another chicken chain's sandwich, the KFC Double Down. This hefty sandwich uses two double-breaded extra crispy pieces of all-white meat in place of a bun. The sandwich's insides include two hickory smoked bacon slices and melted cheese with mayo. You can opt for a spicy sauce instead if you prefer some heat. The Chick-fil-A secret menu version is basically the same.
You'll have to pay for two chicken filets without the buns. From there, you build your own sandwich. Order cheese and bacon and place them, along with any other toppings you want, on top of the bottom piece of poultry. Choose and add whatever sauce your heart desires, put the other piece of meat on top, and you got yourself a KFC copycat of its Double Down. One customer raved about this version on Reddit, saying, "It was literally the best sandwich I've ever eaten from Chick-fil-A."
Another version of this double chicken sandwich is called the Chick-Kick. Facebooker Lawrence Zirconium reports this secret menu hack as combining two Chick-fil-A spicy filets together minus the bun, lettuce, and tomato. Top the pepper-spiced boneless chicken breast with pepper jack cheese and add bacon. Now you have a spicy version of KFC's meaty Double Down, Chick-fil-A style.
8. Spicy and Sweet Doubled Grilled Chicken Sandwich
Are you extra hungry but want something on the leaner side? Then this Chick-fil-A secret menu item that doubles up on the grilled poultry is for you. It starts with a Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Take off the top bun and place an extra filet on it. Pour on about half of a packet of the chain's Buffalo Sauce and a full packet of the Honey Roasted BBQ sauce on each piece of meat.
You can top each side with some tomato, pickles, and lettuce. Place the two sides back together and enjoy. If you're into pickles, add some extra. This sandwich was posted by @themurphyfam on Instagram, who says it originated from @taliasplate, however it doesn't have an official name. So, we gave it one and called it the Spicy and Sweet Doubled Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Despite the double meat, @themurphyfam implies this is a Weight Watchers-friendly recipe.
9. Peach Milkshake Popsicles
This secret menu hack is more like a recipe. There's some prep work involved in making this one a delicious eat. And you can't just make it in your car. You'll have to do it at home. As it turns out, Chick-fil-A's seasonal Peach Milkshake can be transformed into a second frozen dessert.
Chick-fil-A fans know that it is summer when the Peach Milkshakes are back on the menu. It's made from vanilla Icedream frozen dairy dessert and handspun with peach pieces and topped with whipped cream and, of course, a cherry. "The Peach Milkshake has become a tradition for many of us, embracing the seasonal flavors of summer," Chick-fil-A's Leslie Neslage said.
For this menu hack, you'll want to forgo the beloved whipped cream topping and cherry. Just bring home a Peach Milkshake and pour it into a popsicle mold. Put it in the freezer and take it out when it's solid. Now you have a second frozen summer treat from your Chick-fil-A Peach Milkshake.
10. Mac and Cheese Hacks
Chick-fil-A Mac & Cheese is superbly amazing, all on its own, with its indulgence blend of cheddar, Romano, and parmesan cheeses that are baked until a crisped top layer is formed. And there are several ways to enjoy this dish at the chicken chain thanks to some sweet menu hacks. A location in Downey, CA would add bacon bits to its cups of creamy cheesy goodness for those who asked. The restaurant did advise that this may not be available at all locations.
Want to add some protein and spice? Chick-fil-A suggests chopping up an order of chicken nuggets into small pieces and mixing them in. Then squirt some Zesty Buffalo and Garden Herb Ranch sauces on top. It's called the Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese.
Instagrammer @_foodnviews likes to top their Chick-fil-A Spicy Chicken Sandwich off with some Mac & Cheese. It looks like they poured some extra Buffalo Sauce on that sandwich because it's super saucy. Meanwhile, @foodiegirlasmr added some ranch to this combo for additional creaminess with a hint of herbs.
11. Loaded Fries
Chick-fil-A is one of the few fast food restaurants that graces us with the presence of waffle-cut potatoes. We're convinced that the criss-cross shape makes them more delectable. Though it's not on the official menu, you can get loaded fries at some of the chicken chain's locations.
A photo of them from a restaurant in Athens, Georgia appears to add shredded cheese, breaded nugget pieces, bacon, and ranch on top. The store reported that it was brought back for one time only and wasn't available for mobile order. The dish was also available in Griffin, Georgia, though a customer said they weren't able to order it at the drive-thru and could only purchase it inside the store.
But customers come up with all kinds of different concoctions when ordering their loaded fries. One customer indicated on Facebook that they added nuggets, Mac & Cheese, and ranch, buffalo, and Chick-fil-A sauces to their waffle fries.
12. Chick-fil-A Cool Wrap Hacks
The Chick-fil-A Cool Wrap is a crisp and refreshing addition to the chain's menu. It features sliced chicken breast that is grilled and stuffed inside of a flaxseed flour flatbread wrap. It's filled out with lettuce and a mix of Monterey jack and cheddar cheese. The restaurant suggests drizzling Avocado Lime Ranch on it.
This menu hack is called a Spicy Grilled Cool Wrap and jazzes up the original version with a nice kick of heat. Instagrammer @healthykatie_ww says this menu hack replaces the plain grilled chicken with spicy grilled chicken. While the staff was able to accommodate her at her local Chick-fil-A, they might not be able to do so at all of the chain's locations.
TikToker Chandler King Venditti claims that some Chick-fil-A's will make you a veggie wrap. It uses the same flatbread as the Cool Wrap and gets filled with lettuce, tomato, onions, and black beans. The TikToker explains you can then turn it into a Southwestern chicken wrap by adding chicken strips to it and some Creamy Salsa dressing.
13. Ice Dream Hacks
Chick-fil-A's Icedream really delivers when you're looking to cool down. The frozen vanilla dairy dessert comes in a cup or cone or can be served as a milkshake. But if you're looking for something a bit different, these secret menu hacks will help you spruce up your cup of ice cream. Chick-fil-A suggests the Cookie Icedream Sandwich. You'll need to buy two of the Chocolate Chunk Cookies and a cup of Icedream. Spoon some of the frozen dessert onto the underside of a cookie and gently place another cookie on top.
Want something a touch more refreshing with less calories? Get yourself an Icedream Fruit Cup. Order a cup of frozen dairy dessert and pour some fruit on top of it. The Chick-fil-A Fruit Cup comes with fresh chopped red and green apples, along with strawberry, mandarin pieces, and blueberries.
You can also make yourself a brownie or cookie sundae by breaking up pieces of the baked treats and sprinkling it over a cup of the ice cream. There are also a lot of people who dip their Chick-fil-A waffle fries into Icedream and eat it. Whatever floats your frozen dessert boat!
14. Breakfast Hacks
Chick-fil-A serves one of the best fast food breakfasts around. There is nothing that needs to be added to its morning menu. It is spectacular all on its own. But it is so good that it also inspires some individual locations in the chain to come up with their own personal touches.
For example, a Chick-fil-A location in Houston, Texas adds hash browns to its Bacon, Egg, & Cheese Biscuit. A Whitehall, Pennsylvania location adds a piece of sausage to the Chicken, Egg, & Cheese Biscuit. If you order a Frosted Coffee in Carrollton, Georgia, you can have them add Oreo cookie pieces to it.
If you are looking for a small early morning meal, than you could try the Nugget and Fry Sandwich. A Newtown, Pennsylvania location came up with this secret menu hack that places nuggets in between pieces of waffle fries.
