TikTok-Inspired Feta Pasta Recipe
Recipes on TikTok can go viral for several reasons, but often the easiest recipes gain the most popularity. This feta pasta recipe was inspired by a trend on the social media app that spread for that exact reason: You don't need to be a world-class chef to whip up this dish bursting with flavor thanks to the cheese, heirloom tomatoes, and herbs. It's great for a main course but it would also be a great side to accompany a protein.
Recipe developer Christina Musgrave recreated this TikTok-inspired recipe with her own unique twist. "I used multicolored baby heirloom tomatoes in the recipe instead of grape tomatoes," Musgrave shares. She also explains why this recipe is near and dear to her heart. "I love that this comes together quickly and is so delicious! There's also minimal cleanup," she adds.
Gather the ingredients for this TikTok-inspired feta pasta recipe
You will only need a few things to make this recipe. Pick up pasta, feta cheese, heirloom tomatoes, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, olive oil, garlic, and herbs for serving. "You can add in any other veggies you have on hand, or use goat cheese instead of feta," Musgrave says of possible substitutions.
Once you have those items, you can cook this recipe.
Preheat the oven and start mixing
Preheat the oven to 400 F and let it get nice and hot. Then, take out a baking dish and start adding the majority of the ingredients. This includes feta, tomatoes, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, olive oil, and garlic. Mix well to combine.
Then, pop the baking dish into the oven and bake for 35 minutes, until golden brown. "Keep an eye on the feta and tomatoes in the oven to make sure nothing burns," Musgrave notes.
Cook the pasta
While you wait for the feta and heirloom tomatoes to bake in the oven, you can multitask and cook the pasta. This is easy and all you need to do is cook according to the instructions on the back of the box, since each brand varies.
After you finish cooking the pasta, reserve one cup of the pasta water and then drain and set it to the side.
Mix feta and pasta
Once the timer dings, remove the tomato and feta mixture from the oven. At this time, you can dump in the pasta and mix well to combine. If the sauce appears to be too dry, add ¼ cup of the pasta water at a time and repeat if necessary.
Top with herbs and serve
To complete the dish, just add fresh herbs on top of the pasta. Then, you can plate and serve as you wish! Musgrave provides a few of her favorite serving suggestions. "This is great with grilled chicken, steak, or roasted veggies," Musgrave notes. "Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4-5 days."
