Blow Your Party Guests Away By Serving Up An Entire Table Of Nachos
If there's one great thing the rise and reign of TikTok has brought to the world (or at least the foodie world), it would have to be all of the recipes and food trends that have reached millions of viewers.
Thanks to TikTok, throughout the early 2020s, the internet has been flooded with recipes reaching unprecedented rates of virality. From whipped coffee to salmon rice to pasta chips, the creative, often quirky ideas that have caught fire are basically begging us to try them.
One trend involves a dish big enough to feed large groups, so throwing a party is the perfect scenario to try it out. It is not only based on a snack that is always a crowd-pleaser, but it is also incredibly easy to put together and guaranteed to amaze. All it takes are some basic ingredients (in pretty large quantities) and about five minutes on hand.
Putting everything on the table
Some concepts perfectly fit the phrase "bigger is better," and nacho tables are one of them. As the name suggests, nacho tables are tables completely covered in nacho chips with all of the classic fixin's. This viral trend reimagines one of the most iconic party foods so that they can feed a whole party.
Not only is this party-sized snack easy to assemble, but it's also easy to customize to everyone's preferences. While some nacho table curators like to cover all the chips with the works — queso, beans, pico de gallo, etc. — others prefer to keep everyone's toppings of choice in the center so guests can grab a bare chip and choose their dips and garnishes for themselves.
Alternatively, areas of the table can be sectioned off for different toppings so that, for example, vegetarians can help themselves to a meat-free side. The only limit to what a nacho table can look like is the assembler's creativity.
Pre-nacho table considerations
As with any grand culinary project, there are a few factors to consider before making a nacho table. First, it would be wise to asses the size of the crowd consuming the table of chips and plan the size of the spread accordingly. The amount of food wasted in America is an ongoing issue with a substantial environmental impact. Covering a dining room-sized table with nachos for a disproportionate number of people certainly won't help.
Another consideration is the cleanliness of the operation. Because of the communal nature of the dish, there's a fair chance that germs will be passed around. It may be wise to make sure everyone in attendance, or at least everyone who wants in on the nacho table action, feels healthy and free of any contagious ailments, and that they have their hands washed.
Lastly, given the scope of the project that assembling a nacho table is, the cost of obtaining all of the ingredients will probably add up, so assigning one ingredient for each guest to bring could be a helpful tactic to lighten that burden. One bonus tip: make sure the nacho table is located in a spacious room, because there's no doubt it will be where the party is.
