Where Is Oat Haus From Shark Tank Today

Peanut butter (and other nut butters) are pantry staples in many American households. Whether you like it smooth or chunky, there are now so many nut spreads and butters available for your preference. However, despite the diverse selection of nut butters, people with nut allergies are shut out. Oat Haus was created to change that with its granola butter.

Oat Haus is the invention of Eric Katz, Ali Bonar, and Ari Schraer. Granola butter was born out of Bonar's recovery from an eating disorder. After her stomach responded negatively when she reintroduced nut butter into her diet, Bonar decided to make oat-based butter.

Oat Haus' granola butter claims to be the world's first oat-based spread. Its granola butter is made from oats, flaxseed, olive oil, maple syrup, and spices and is free of the top eight allergens, such as nuts, soy, and dairy. With a 12-ounce jar costing around $12.95, the brand offers various flavors, such as cinnamon roll, vanilla, cookie dough, strawberry shortcake, and more. But is Oat Haus' granola butter enticing enough for the sharks to invest?

Oat Haus lands no deal

The Oat Haus founders appeared on Season 13, Episode 3 of "Shark Tank," seeking $375,000 for 5% ownership of the company. As they pitched their product, they emphasized that their granola butter is different from the "boring" spreads typically found in kitchen cabinets. The entrepreneurs claimed Oat Haus' granola butter will be the "next generation of granola."

The business partners gave the Sharks four flavors to sample — original, vanilla, chocolate, and blueberry. Almost all the sharks complimented the different flavors with Lori Greiner commenting that the butter had a "fantastic" aroma. However, Kevin O'Leary said the spread was soup-like.

Since creating Oat Haus in 2018, the company has made $2.7 million in sales. They made $156,000 in their first year and were projected to make $2.5 million in 2021. Eric Katz explained the company had received investments from several successful food entrepreneurs.

Mark Cuban is the first to drop out as he doesn't understand how Oat Haus' products are different from what's already on the market. One by one, all the sharks dropped out. Guest shark Daniel Lubetzky, in particular, was weary of the entrepreneurs' talks of exiting the company in the future. With no deal from the sharks, was Oat Haus able to stick around?

Oat Haus continues to spread

After the airing of the "Shark Tank" episode, Oat Haus co-founder Ali Bonar told Philadelphia Business Journal that sales spiked 300%. Bonar said while younger demographics made up a majority of its buyers, "Shark Tank" allowed the company to expand to older groups.

Looking to try some granola butter? Oat Haus' products are sold in many retailers, such as Di Bruno Brothers, Weavers Way Co-Op, and REAP Mini-Mart in Philadelphia. The granola butter spreads are also available to purchase in Whole Foods in the Northeast, North Atlantic, and Southern Pacific regions, as well as Florida. And the company can be found on Gopuff and Amazon.

Since appearing on the show, the company has added a customer service representative and new fulfillment and production team members, according to Philadelphia Business Journal, and has tapped actress Jameela Jamil as an investor and social impact advisor, per a 2021 press release. In her role, Jamil helps "empower others to love themselves and find joy in food." Despite getting no deal, it's safe to say Oat Haus has become quite successful.
