Super Bowl 2023: The Best Food And Drink Deals For The Big Game
You might be surprised to learn that the Super Bowl is the second biggest food holiday in the United States. According to Premio Foods, the only bigger food-centric event is Thanksgiving. While there are a whole lot of great game day recipes you could whip up for the big day, time is running short, so why not let someone else do the work for you? According to USA Today, 12.5 million pizzas were sold last year during the holiday alone. And per Premio Foods, one in seven Americans typically order takeout on Super Bowl Sunday.
Between the incoming guests, drink prep, and all the fragile items to hide from the especially exuberant fans, hosts have already got enough on their to-do lists. Per the National Retail Federation, football lovers are expected to spend nearly $16.5 billion nationally on things beyond just food and drinks like merchandise, party supplies, and more. If you're hoping to save some money in the appetizers department, you're in luck. We scoped out some of the best food and drink deals for the big game so you don't have to.
Give the people what they want: wings and nachos
You've got the TV and the seats, so let someone else fill your table with the perfect game day eats. Before you can decide on what food to buy, however, you should probably consider what your guests might like best. To help narrow your search, we looked into what sports fans liked to munch on the most during previous game days and hand-selected some of the best deals.
Per ABC News, the top two food-related Google searches around the time of the Super Bowl are wings and nachos. If you're one of the many people on the hunt for a hot plate of chicken wings for the game this year, Applebee's has got you covered (via People). Customers that use the code BIGGAME23 on delivery or to-go orders of $40 or more can receive 20 free boneless wings tossed in the sauce of their choice. (Personally, we're partial to those garlic parmesan chicken wings).
As for you nachos fans, consider heading to the Hard Rock Cafe. In celebration of game day, the chain has a special tailgate menu featuring bundle deals of two, three, or even four items. Customers can get their nacho and wing fix in at the same time for just $25, and you can throw in some of your other favorite appetizers for just $35 or $45. Beyond these classic snacks, there are a few other options we'd consider good to order.
Even more game day deals
According to People, the options for affordable game day treats are nearly endless. Aside from a classic order of wings or nachos, another food item hungry sports fans should consider is pizza. For Super Bowl Sunday, Cici's Pizza is offering a few deals. Get two giant one-topping pizzas plus a choice of cinnamon bread or cinnamon rolls for just $28 from the chain, or two pizzas plus wings for just $34. Another source for your pizza fix this year could be Papa John's, per Parade. The chain is bringing back its Ultimate Meats Pizza until March 5 in honor of the big game. This pie includes meaty toppings such as salami, sausage, and hickory smoked bacon — all coming in at just $11.
If you're in the mood for something a little different for your guests, McDonald's is giving all of its DoorDash customers who order $15 or more a free 20-piece nugget. The promotion starts on February 10 and will end on February 13. Notably, McDonald's is hardly the only restaurant taking advantage of DoorDash deals. Subway is also offering a free footlong on Sunday with an order of $25 or more. Per People, one last great deal comes courtesy of the Sonic app. Until February 14, the chain is offering a generous buy-one-entree-get-one-free deal.
So for all you hungry sports fans out there — many good (and delicious) deals are here.
