The One Fast Food Restaurant Gordon Ramsay Can't Get Enough Of
Gordon Ramsay is known for many things. The chef and restaurant owner is the supercharged personality behind popular food TV shows such as "MasterChef,” "Hell's Kitchen,” and "Kitchen Nightmares.” He's also the entrepreneur behind dozens of restaurants worldwide, including far-flung countries like France, Singapore, Dubai, Qatar, and, of course, the United Kingdom (per Parade). As if that's not enough, Ramsay is also a husband and the proud papa of five children.
We don't know how he does it, but Ramsay puts his stamp on nearly 60 restaurants, including a couple of top-tier spots with Michelin stars, one of the highest honors in the world of gastronomy. You might not think a Michelin-starred, fine-dining chef would ever fancy lowly fast food, but Ramsay is only human (and claims all chefs adore fast food). When he's in the United States, the British chef gets his burger fix at In-N-Out (per Taste of Home).
Ramsay: 'Take me to the drive-thru at In-N-Out burger...'
What does Gordon Ramsay order at In-N-Out, the California-based burger joint with locations and a loyal following? Many claim In-N-Out has the best burger in the land of fast food, according to Insider. Ramsay put it right out there to Taste of Home: "Every chef in the country loves indulging in fast food," the Scottish-born celebrity chef said. "So, take me to the drive-thru at In-N-Out burger, and you'll see me in the back seat with tinted windows with a Double-Double."
What, exactly, is Double-Double? You could say it's two times the pleasure of a regular In-N-Out burger. The two-handed sandwich comes with two beef patties, two slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, fresh or grilled onion, and special sauce (also known as spread), which looks to be a relative of Thousand Island dressing. A toasted bun holds the Double-Double and all its fixings together (per In-N-Out's website). Taste of Home noted that Ramsay's usual order is a Double-Double with fries.
It's no secret celebrities love In-N-Out
In-N-Out is a fast-food classic, and its menu hasn't changed much since founder Harry Snyder launched his tiny drive-thru burger stand in Baldwin Park, California, in 1948 (per its website). The chain known for its burgers, fries, and shakes (and the pair of crossed palm trees planted in front of most locations) turns 75 this year.
Most of In-N-Out's legions of fans are everyday people, but Gordon Ramsay isn't the only high-profile figure to profess his love for the fast-food chain. If you keep up with the Kardashians, you know that Kylie Jenner craved it when she was pregnant and hit the drive-thru for a double cheeseburger with spread and onions when she was in the mood for a "cheat meal” (per Us Magazine). Actress Jennifer Garner got Instagram talking a couple of years ago when she posted a photo of herself and her friend Ina Garten having a burger moment at In-N-Out. Garten shared on Instagram that her go-to is In-N-Out's Animal Style burger. Having famous chefs, actors, and TV personalities as avid fans is a pretty good deal.
