Where Is Milk And Brookies From Shark Tank Today?
If you're craving sweets but can't decide if you want a brownie or a cookie, the brookie might be the perfect solution. This sweet treat perfectly blends batter from both confections into one delicious dessert. There are plenty of recipes to make brookies at home, but one Los Angeles bakery wanted to make it easy to order the treats without the hassle of baking.
Milk and Brookies was founded By Jovon English, Marques Brooks, Naimah Harris, and Tisa Smart-Washington. According to the Shark Tank Blog, the company began in 2014 and sold its sweets mostly at fairs, pop-ups, and through online sales. Though the bakery found success through these sales methods, the owners wanted to open a brick-and-mortar location, making it easier for customers to grab some sweet treats.
Milk and Brookies appeared on episode 706 of "Shark Tank," and the owners sought a little help in expanding their business.
The team wanted a physical location
According to the Shark Tank Blog, Milk and Brookies founders Jovon English, Marques Brooks, and Naimah Harris brought samples of their sweets along to the presentation for the sharks to taste test. The company sells a few different flavors, according to its website, including snickerdoodle, peanut butter, turtle, and of course, the original chocolate chip and brownie combo.
All of the Sharks ate and enjoyed the brookies while the business owners pitched their proposal. They sought $100,000 in exchange for one-fifth of the business. The funds would be used to establish a brick-and-mortar location, allowing the employees to pursue the career full-time, rather than having to make time for online sales outside of their other jobs.
While the Sharks enjoyed the brookies and saw a future for the business, none were ready to commit to the investment. Mr. Wonderful stated that he was concerned the sales prices were too low, not allowing for enough profit. Meanwhile, Robert, Barbara, and Lori all agreed that the company had a future, but it was too early in the business to invest. Still, the company saw success after the show.
The company still saw success
After the founders appeared on "Shark Tank," Milk and Brookies' popularity took off. Sales reportedly saw a 3000% increase, and annual revenue is around $3 million as of December 2022 (per the Shark Tank Blog). Though the company still operates primarily via online sales and at pop-ups, it has since partnered with Orleans and York, and its desserts can be purchased at many of the deli chain's locations.
If you want to try the Milk and Brookies treats, you can order any of its flavors from its website in a 4-pack or half dozen, starting at $24. All brookies are made to order and shipped fresh via USPS 2-Day mail for United States and U.S. Territory citizens.
And if you're outside the United States but are still curious about the treats, the company will ship worldwide, though it may come at a higher delivery cost.
