The $10K Food Experience Only Available On Dolly Parton's Tour Bus
Dolly Parton might be an icon in the country music scene, but her talents don't end with music — she also knows her way around the kitchen. According to Today, she even cooked food for her co-stars while working on movies like "Steel Magnolias" and "9 to 5." Plus, she sells her own line of baking mixes and frostings through a partnership with Duncan Hines.
If you've ever wanted to experience a day in the life as the Queen of Country Music, now is your chance. Fans can book a stay at "Suite 1986" at Dollywood's DreamMore Resort and Spa in Tennessee. The "suite" is actually Parton's retired tour bus, which was her home (on the road) for 13 years before she retired in March 2022 (via Dollywood). Once it was decommissioned, it was converted into a miniature museum, where fans can get a glimpse of how Parton lived while touring. The bus can accommodate two guests at a time, but rooms at the resort can be booked to feature a view.
Of course, living like Dolly Parton wouldn't be complete without indulging in some of her favorite foods. The Suite 1986 experience includes a five-course dinner, packed full of the star's most beloved dishes.
The menu features some of Parton's favorite foods
The Suite 1986 five-course meal starts off with a seasonal soup (via Dollywood). Though this item rotates with availability, one of the options is a dumpling and duck confit soup, made with a turmeric broth, according to Food & Wine. From there, the chefs offer some variety in order to accommodate everyone's specific dietary requests, but every item on the pre-set menu honors Parton's southern roots. For the second course, diners can enjoy bacon-wrapped whiskey-glazed shrimp over yellow stone ground grits, with andouille sausage and trinity — a blend of onions, bell peppers, and celery.
Before the main course, diners will be served a salad made from an heirloom tomato confit, micro basil, and burrata cheese, topped with balsamic syrup and toasted boule. The star of the meal is the main course, inspired by southern BBQ flavors. Diners can indulge in smoked brisket, hickory pulled pork, fried chicken, and ribs. On the side, you'll find collard greens, sweet potato puree, buttermilk biscuits, mac and cheese, and smashed potatoes.
Of course, the meal wouldn't be complete without dessert. Diners will indulge in pecan pralines, bourbon crème brulée, and banana pudding to finish off the meal on a sweet note. Each course of the meal, aside from the soup, will also feature wine pairings, chosen specifically to complement the components of each dish.
Diners can take home a recipe for one dish
If you still have room to snack after dinner, the tour bus will have you covered. According to Food & Wine, each time Parton stays at DreamMore Resort, she receives a cheese board full of cheddar cheese, fruit, and blue cheese. Guests will get the same treatment, served on the bus kitchen's faux-wood table, as well as a fridge full of water bottles, Coca-Cola, and root beer to wash it all down.
As an extra souvenir, each diner who enjoys a meal as part of the experience will receive a parting gift to use in the kitchen. Food & Wine reports that every place setting will be adorned with a wooden spoon, and have Parton's Stone Soup recipe tied to it, so you can take a little bit of Dollywood home to enjoy any time. (If you can't make it to Tennessee for this experience, The Hallmark Channel features Parton's recipe on its website).
To book the experience, interested parties can fill out the inquiry on the Dollywood website, and a representative will help you book your experience. Each reservation is a minimum of a two-night stay, and cost starts at $10,000.
