Texas Roadhouse Copycat Rolls Use One Ingredient In Every Step

If you frequent Texas Roadhouse, you know how good the food is. In fact, the food is so good that it became the most popular restaurant chain during the COVID-19 pandemic (via Top Data). But while its name implies an offering of freshly cut and grilled steaks, there's one thing on the menu that has really kept its customer base coming back over and over again.

Although you may be ready to dish out a decent bill for your dinner, it's the sweet and light dinner rolls that earned its famed reputation. We even believe these rolls are the cream of the crop when it comes to restaurant dinner bread, out-beating Olive Garden's breadsticks and Cheesecake Factory's baguette and brown bread (sorry not sorry). Aside from being free, the warm rolls come out accompanied with delicious cinnamon-honey butter, greeting your taste buds as you decide what cut of sneak you want for dinner.

Sometimes though, we might not be able to make it out to Texas Roadhouse to fulfill those cravings. Thankfully, there's a way to recreate these delicious rolls in the comfort of your own home so you never have to be worried about being judged for eating more than one (or five).

Butter, butter, and more butter

One of the best parts of Texas Roadhouses' dinner rolls is the delicious homemade cinnamon-honey butter that comes on the side. But did you know that butter is used as a critical ingredient throughout the whole recipe?

According to Delish, butter is used during the entire process of making and baking these delicious dinner rolls. To get that delectable buttery and airy taste, butter is used in the dough, and then brushed on top after coming out of the oven for a buttery glaze. Of course, it doesn't stop there, as you'll want to be making a copycat version of the restaurant's cinnamon-honey butter to accompany the warm rolls just as they do in the restaurant.

Copy Kat outlines the recipe for one of the "best" copycat recipes of these Texas Roadhouse dinner rolls. You'll find in its recipe that you'll be using butter — both melted and at room temperature — in the dough making, buttery glaze on top, and in the cinnamon-honey butter on the side.

How to make the best copycat Texas Roadhouse dinner rolls

Want to make your own copycat buttery Texas Roadhouse dinner rolls for your friends and family? There is a way — and it's actually not that hard. According to The Novice Chef, all you'll need is some milk, yeast, sugar, eggs, egg yolks, melted butter, flour, and salt.

First, you'll want to prep your yeast for baking. Combine your yeast, warm water, and sugar to a bowl and lightly mix or whisk. Jo Cooks says you'll want your yeast mixture to sit for up to 15 minutes or so to allow it to foam. As that is setting up, she continues, you should combine the room temperature milk, butter, sugar, eggs, and salt together and then mix in a dough mixer for one minute. You can combine 2 or 3 cups of flour at a time for a good consistency to form a moldable dough. Set the dough in a warm area and wait to rise. Then, set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, assemble on a baking sheet, and bake for up to 20 minutes.

As the rolls are baking, make your cinnamon-honey butter with softened, unsalted butter, sugar, honey, and cinnamon to taste (The Novice Chef says you can get away with leaving out the sugar for a less sweet taste). Once the rolls are done, you can make them extra buttery by brushing melted butter on top (via Jo Cooks). And there you go: You've got your very own warm, buttery Texas Roadhouse copycat dinner rolls.
